Photographer's Note
Howrah Bridge : This is the famous Howrah Bridge built during the British Raj and connects Calcutta with its twin city ,Howrah situated across the Hooghly river on the western bank.It is a cantilever bridge with a suspended span over the River and was commissioned in 1943.Earlier there was a pontoon bridge in its place. It weathers the storms of the Bay of Bengal region, carrying a daily traffic of approximately 100,000 vehicles and possibly more than 150,000 pedestrians, easily making it the busiest cantilever bridge in the world. The third-longest cantilever bridge at the time of its construction, the Howrah Bridge is the sixth-longest bridge of its type in the world. The bridge does not have nuts and bolts, but was formed by riveting the whole structure. It consumed 26,500 tons of steel, out of which 23,000 tons of high-tensile alloy steel, known as Tiscrom,

Hello,
Nice view of this steel structure. We also have few railway bridges like this still in use from the WW2, made by the Germans.
Well taken.

Hello Farhat,
A fine picture of this iconic bridge with the red building nicely included. We can't see the hustle and bustle on the bridge but the people on the shore tell us something about the activities going on in the surrounding areas.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Farhat,
I like the oblique point of view which shows the singular structure to great effect. The people down by the riverside enliven the scene and the provide scale. The red pillar makes a fine frame and adds a good splash of colour to relieve the predominant grey-blue tones. Presumably it was built as part of the war effort in World War 2?

Hello Farhat,
This is an impressive bridge!
The minute buildings on the opposite bank tell us something of its length!
It might be interesting to take a view looking down the bridge so that we can get an impression of the volume of traffic and pedestrians that use it each day.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

BOnjour Farhat.
Il est beau ce pont même si il n'est pas très haut sur pattes. Il ressort bien malgré qu'il se confonde un peu avec le gris du ciel en arrière plan. Il forme aussi une très belle ligne de fuite.
Amicalement

Hello Farhat,
The number in the note must be an impressive sight: a crowd of 150,000 pedestrian crossing daily, besides vehicles, that's must be something to show on a closer ranged pic.
Here is a task for you...
Fine clear view, inspite low light conditions.
Best regards,
Ike

Hello Farhat
This is quite an impressing bridge indeed. The group of people are really dwarfed against the sheer size of the construction. The stormy light has given the scene a mystique and dark mood.
But is it the bridge that is askew or is it the picture?
have a great time

Dear Farhat,
It is beautiful this bridge even though it is not very leggy. It appears that in spite of a little confused with the gray sky in the background. It also forms a beautiful line of flight.

Hi Farhat
It looks a little like the Storey Bridge in Brisbane, modelled on the Jacques Cartier Bridge in Montreal, Canada. Good sharpness and the people in the fg add scale and animate the scene. Tfs!
