Photographer's Note

In the middle of the procession..
.
.
.
i am an outsider....following, flowing with the energy, the dramatics..the women in black robes (in full hijab, naqab, chadar, burkah..(you name it)..the children..angelic as they appeared.
i am an outsider....not sure if i was suppose to be there..what was i searching..photography..no !
In search of a story...their story..what story, who's story ?
.
.
.
Or am i just being a child myself..am i looking back into the years ?
.
.
Am I ?

Hello brother Sayeed,
The grainy effect makes the shot look more older than it actually is. I'd have guessed somewhere in the seventies, or was I too incluenced by that nostalgic touch that slipped into your note? Or was it the title that did it? Anyway, it all adds up and the result is another really great picture.
One love & hats off!

Fine meaningful picture. The child is at once protected and swept along by the adult world.Greetings Wolf.

this is such a profoundly compelling image and story-telling.. you have captured the pathos of all young men coping & understanding their world... simply fantastic work. also, the B/W filmic look is perfect, not only in execution & style but for this story-telling (I don't believe sharp, commercial color photography would be nearly as powerful as this). best regards... richard

Hi Sayeed,
I like the grainy B&W and the 'face in the crowd' type of feeling here. Wroks for me no doubt.

I have this feeling - this photo reminds me of another photo, but I can't focus, I can't remember which photo...
anyway: first of all I love the choice of grainy b/w, it isolates the child from the sea of black veils. secondly, the face of the child is the only one we can see, all the rest if a shape or a shadow - this opposition is the strong element in the photo and is the element that tells something here.
good work, sayeed.

Dear Sayeed,
I wish I cld have seen this photo in full format.
Why?
Simply , it tickles my fancy.
Conversion to bw and the post-processing way is just as I like.
I`m wondering what has paid the attention of this little boy... I don`t suppose it was you:)
Great work,
Joanna

Hello Sayeed. A human detail. The face of a little boy in a lot of people who are visible only from behind. A subtle and expressive photo. Also fascinating text. Regards, Wolfgang.

Hola Sayeed ---------->
Excellent image with strong contrasts, and that centres on the child as protagonist of the scene with an interesting expression of puzzlement.
I like the framing, I like.
Un saludo amigo mío.

Hello Sayeed,
Excellent portrait and contrast, I like the child's expression, very good the B&W presentation and the noise gives a nice tone to the image.
Have a nice weekend, Vasilis.

The best shot in this Muharram series (I guess) Sayeed, you got it... I am happy to watch it... I tried a similar one but could not get it, believe me, that's a dream shot... All turned back, only one face telling the story... I love findnig my dream shots in TE:)
good night

this one ought to be a very personal photo for you. added the grains (and thankfully no pink or sepia this time, LOL), the B&W makes a marvellous travel through time.
my childhood was quite different than that: my best loved memoirs belong to a "natural" childhood, closer to a "Heidi in the Alps" era, absolutely isolated from such kinds of rituals or anything "supernatural".
