...Maa Durga..., a photo from West Bengal, East

Photographer's Note

I took it in the eve of 'Durga puja'. I took it at Cossimbazar Rajbari (palace). Maa Durga is worshiped here from a long period. 'Nat-mandir' ( the hall where the puja held ) is full of joyful people. Not only the people of this palace used to worship 'Maa Durga' here, there the local people also present. The whole atmosphere is full of majestic happyness, where you can find the children and others with new dresses and smell the smoke of 'dhup-dhuno' ( essenced smoke ). It is very common in hindu pujas. Now I am sharing it with you. Hope you like it.

A good capture of this highly decorated shrine. The detail and colours are beautifully rendered under a pleasing soft light. Together with your note, it makes a good addition to TE.

Yes, that's her Maa Durga, I'm not sure but I think that is nicer side of her. If I remember correctly there is a second face of her, which is not so friendly. It a fine portrait of the goddess with fine sharpness and well balanced colors. Good use of the flash too. well done
