Photographer's Note

Alaverdi Monastery is a Georgian Orthodox monastery located 25 km from Akhmeta, in the Kakheti region of Eastern Georgia.Alaverdi is the second highest cathedral in Georgia after the newly built Tbilisi Sameba Cathedral.Parts of the monastery date back to 6th century. The present day cathedral dates to the 11th century.The monastery was founded by the Assyrian monk Joseph (Yoseb, Amba) Alaverdeli, who came from Antioch and settled in Alaverdi, then a small village and former pagan religious center dedicated to the Moon.

Belle prйsentation de ce monastиre dans un beau format vertical. L'avant-plan est intйressant avec ce vieux mur de pierres recouvert de tuile et la belle plantation d'arbres au dessus. Bel йclairage malgrй un ciel nuageux et beau contraste de couleurs.

The sharpness of the photograph, together with the saturation of colours is excellent. The tiles on top of the long wall extending from the forground on the left diagonally across to the right has amazing depth and details. Next we see this vibrant green of the orchard before the tall walls of the monastery.
The image of the monastery has been captured in detail with brightness and clarity in colours and shades.
The grey cloudy sky with a small bit of brightness behind the tower makes the monastery stand out brightly.
The photograph has an appropriate border framing.

Hello my friend, a very nice photo here, i love the way you composed it on layers, the stone fence the orchard and then the complex. Lovely colors, afterall who said that photos taken in rainy days aren't that spectacular? Very nice image again.

piekny klasztor,ale tez i znakomity pomysl na skadrowanie sceny z tym murem na pierwszym planie.Nawet pochmurne niebo wydaje sie tutaj atutem dodajac kompozycji nieco dramatyzmu.Super ostrosc oraz piekne kolory i kontrast.

Hey Gregg!

The castle is a interesting object which you have captured well with your camera. The dark, dramatic sky adds much effect on the mood. In addition to the atmosphere, it is competently photographed, good through-focus, nice composition and light and color is very tasteful. Good job.

Exactly the kind of composition and point of view I like in wide angle lens and vertical frame.
A very good feeling of depth with the perspective effect on the wall in foreground and a good balance of the composition with monastery placed in parallel to the wall.
The stormy sky ends to provide a strong mood on this view.

Le mur en premier plan donne une belle diagonale dans l'image et apporte beaucoup de profondeur а l'ensemble.
Le chвteau est magnifique et ressort superbement sur fond de ciel gris.

Great colours and textures in the foreground wall and a great sky to set things against. Some slight over-exposure in the clouds but it doesn't detract too much from the shot.

Nice three-layered photo. The fence at the foreground, orchard in the middle and the church ath the background. Diagonal position of the fence adds depth of field. Congratulations.
