Photographer's Note
This is my old picture (scanned) at Dili City, East Timor in 1993 (now as a capital city of East Timor), sorry the picture's quality is not too good.
The building with surroundings by nature was Governor House when East Timor was one of Indonesia's province maybe now has become a President House. I dont want to talk about politic between Indonesia and East Timor, i just miss this exotic place with nice coast along the city, i was here for one month on my office duty in 1993 but unfortunately there are only few pictures taken. I hear from my friend that the building has restored and added some new buiding on each sides, maybe TE's friends have that restored picture and i'll be glad to see and compare it. I hope Indonesia and East Timor still on friendship and maybe sometimes i can visit Dili city again.
best regards
daniel

Hello Daniel,
Well done on photographing a part of the world we see litle representation of, one of the world's newest nations! I can see, as directed in your note that the image quality is not at the very best standard, but the presentation, including position and frame are well placed. I hope to visit oneday.

This is indeed an interesting photo. The building is very nice, and I like the guards yellow shirt. Nice mountains in the background as well. You can't complain about a photo from 1993.

Hi Daniel
The scan really give this image an older documentary style feel to it. Good comp and the man in the yellow shirt is well placed. A piece of history here. Anyhow well done.

Hello Daniel,
A good document.
The result may be poor due to the scanning, but the sense in showing this is appreciated.
Good luck.
Salutes.

Hi Daniel!
Fantastic building in a fantastic environment. The composition is simple but excellent and the light managment is great! There is a luck of sharpness and definition, probably because of the scanning. Anyway, congratulations!

Hello Daniel
The compostion is very good in this oldie. Obviously, the sharpness has seen a loss in quality due to the scan. It's nonetheless a pleasant pic.
Best wishes

Hi Daniel,
TE being about "knowing the world through photography", it did well posting this one despite its poor technical quality. Even so, besides the documentary value, it is a nice photo, and I can imagine that the light was wonderful.
Like you, I wish East Timor finds its way to development and complete peace, but the few news I have heard don't give me so high hopes of that.
Regards, José.

Hello Daniel
First of all thanks to show us a part of the world, whose pictures are not often seen. Good job with the framing & compo. Quality may not be the best, but this has a good documentary value to it.

Daniel, the quality isn't the best one and certainly is something related to the scanning process that you had to undertake on the original shot. Taken into consideration that there are almost no pictures of East Timor at whatsoever I think it was a very good initiative to overcome the quality and post it anyway.

Hello Daniel,
Not bad for a scanned image. It does seem old but still very nice. The view is quite interesting and the building has nice architectural details. I think maybe cropping the two black strips would create a better image. Nice work Daniel :-)

Hello Daniel,
An interesting historical documentary!
Even if sharpness could be better the image stand nicely on it's own feet...
A clean classic composition, colour reproduction is good!

Hello Daniel,
You show the photo from such an exotic place, where I am sure not many tourists go...It looks very interesting.
Despite its scanned photo - the quality is quite OK. I like the composition and the atmosphere of it. Well done!
Greetings
Aga
PS. I regret you dont have more photos from there...

Hi Daniel,
the quality of the shot is marginal here. At the same time is a very interesting document from a country we couldn't see often nor on pictures.
Well done, my friend! Tfs and best wishes.

Hi Daniel,
As most have commented, you had good light, the symmetrical framing works on the interesting details of this building and there are few pictures of East Timor. Did you get some more current posts
There is free software for noise reduction, I did a quick WS just using the noise reduction in Photoshop.
