Photographer's Note
I decided to post this photo because I thought it combined several aspects of Chinese architecture.
On the left of the shot is part of a very long wall which tells the story and principles of Taoism. One side is all Chinese text and the other is a mural.
In the background is the main temple with its golden roof and animals on the gable ends.
My other shot showed the animals on the lower roof, which are behind the wall in this shot.

I love the composition with all the different lines and angles in this shot and the colours are superb. Great clarity too.

Very fine angle for this shot - you manage to give us both details and perspective. Also the far sight of your former shot nice. It seams like the pillars made of bamboos - but its tiles.
Good work Andrew.

The clarity and detail in this shot is stunning. The Taoism wall on the left to me is the main subject here, I like its striking colors and how it shines, and I guess the mural that you mention is on the opposite side might also make a fine photographic subject in its own right. The temple with its decorative animals is an "old acquaintance" - in this shot, I works fine as a decorative element and as providing some contrast to the rest of what's in your frame. Well done, Andrew.

Stunning details Andrew! I like the prevailing colour combination of white/golden/black in your composition. The angle of shooting gives a perfect view of the wall and temple together. Excellent capture!

This photograph has many aspects that are interesting. The architecture is typical and the writtings are beautifull. Your composition with all the you have included here is very appealing. There are so many colors, and all in similar shades, that to me is one of the best part of this image.
A great shot Andrew.

Another splendid one Andrew ! I do not quite agree with Jan, in my opinion there are not two pics in a one, there's only one main subject and a background.
A very good angle for this black wall, which shows all the beauty of the calligraphy. I don't understand the story ;-) but watching at these signs is enough for me, it looks like a real artwork. Excellent.

Very nice. I like the two parts of this. The close wall and the distant temple. You captured both nicely. Nice and tight, just a taste of each. Very nice color and great details. It's nice and sharp. It's like I'm coming around this wall to the temple. It really engages me, like I want to move forward and see the other side of the wall and see the full temple. Very nice job!

I see two good photos here - on eis the well textured roof, and the second is the excellent Chinese calligraphy. Both are interesting very much. I do think thta you could also frame the small calligraphy board, the one on the left in a seperate photo, could be very powerfull. But this composition is nice as well. Well done, Andrew.

This is a splendid method, used by others on TE, to show "something" and to show this "something" in it's surrounding. It's not just "something" and it's backdrop!! And it works very well with a large DOF, because the front and the back must be equally sharp. Saying that, I've said much of what I think are the qualities of this picture.
In this case I wouldn't have positioned the changeover in the middle of the image, but that's perhaps because I don't read Chinese. I don't know the importance of the text, so I'd rather have the upper gable end on the temple uncut. "One step to the right, please", although I don't know the consequences of that... ;o)
That's a minor detail! I think this is well seen and you've captured the beauty of Chinese architecture in a splendid way!

Again a very nice shot, Andrew. There are a lot of lines and you framed them very well. Colors are very nice and it is, as I read your note, a good fellow of your previous shot. Well done!

Absolutely beautiful. Your composition is so balanced and harmonious, probably the same feeling you get when you are in the temple.
