Photographer's Note
This photo was taken in the Wan Chai district of Hong Kong Island. The shop on the corner is a pawn brokers.
I was first attracted by the fact that this old rundown 3-floor building was still standing amongst all the sky scrapers, but then I noticed how many signs the little corner shop had - I counted eight.
The owner had seemed to abandoned the old green shop front and was now operating out of a smaller side entrance.
Of course being Hong Kong, I can't imagine that the property developers will allow this old building to remain much longer. As you can see its neighbour has already been redeveloped.
This part of the street also seemed to be a parking area for trucks.

Update 2004-07-09:-
Vic Tokarski's excellent photo Hong Kong Tramway shows this building in its entirety.

I simply love to see those streets scenes. The best part of TE... To discover a new place, a new worrld. Here everything is interesting, the buildings, the signs, the people. Well done Andrew.

Andrew, it's very difficult because the photos are very subjective, to pas judgmenton, but it's not my cup of tea, however we learn from each other. Very sharpness. But thanks for note.

Beautiful and very busy scene. As you know, I like the calligraphy, and i got it here several times. This is an excellent street shot with a lot of activity. Very well done, Andrew.

Nice HK scene -- a lot of signs and construction sites. Informative shot and note. Thanks.

A very good street shot from HK. Yes, the building at the corner in front does look pretty run-down indeed. The "green-wrapped" building in the back which seems to undergo construction looks quite interesting; not quite the usual European way of doing the scaffolding. Nice calligraphy. Well done, Andrew.

Another nice one, Andrew. The person in the blue top looks a bit bemused :) I can't work out if I like the central position of the column or not... but it is an interesting photo and a very good note.

Pas évident de prendre des rues et de les rendre aussi bien en contraste et en détails.
Vitesse rapide pour éviter le flou et luminosité parfaite vous avez fait je vois de bon réglage.
Bravo Andrew

People make this shot bright and colourful and full of daily life motion. The red sign adds another little, but nice colourful spot. The perspective in right part brings depth and the frame makes the whole composition neat. Very well seen and captured!

So many details but not distracting. A lot of movement. I must say that this is a very casual shot yet it looks very organized and well-conceptualized. Good angle and composition and of course, your notes help. The erratic splash of many colors also brightened up this picture. Good.
