Photographer's Note

A view of the amazing karst scenery from the arch of Moon Hill. Enthusiasts can follow a rough and dangerous track right to the summit, but this was high enough for me. The original image was extremely hazy so I have added contrast, saturation & shadows. It's better than it was.

Hello Chris,
I get a feeling this area is always hazy or cloudy. It looks good enough in this photo, so you must have worked hard to get rid of the extreme haze. It's a fascinating view every time we can see through the mist.

Hello Chris,
despite the fog/mist prevailing the mountains scenery, there is a good sense of depth and contrast from the claer sight of the valley in the foreground.

Hello Chris,

I remember you posting photographs from this area previously. Is the haziness the result of pollution or the weather?

The karst scenery is very distinctive, almost as if the strange lumps have been deposited by giants rather than from weathering.
The buildings are very useful for they confirm the height of strange hills, swathed in vegetation!

I like this fantastic panorama view.
Fog between the high mountains shall are normally, but this gives additional atmosphere.
A good composition sharp and clear photographed.

A wonderful landscape, seen from a great viewpoint which shows the huge and steep hills so well. They emerge very beautifully from the haze. The houses in the middle add a good sense of scale as well.

Hello Chris, the hazy atmosphere actually adds an air of mystery to the scene, as the karst scenery presents some quite ghostly shapes.
You managed a very good point of view, elevated enough to show us the small fields and the buildings.

I see that the buildings in Yangshuo have several floors. Yet everything seems very small compared to the mountains in the area.

You achieved an outstanding correction, leaving a subtle fog that enhances the beauty of this enigmatic scenery. It could be mistaken, at first sight, for a settlement of giant ants through which are erected Lilliputians dwellings!
