Bamboo, boats & birds, a photo from Guangxi, South

Photographer's Note

A scene along the Li River between Yangshuo and Yangdi. The 'trees' at left are actually a well known species of grass, namely bamboo. The boats and ducks completed the scene. Taken on a hazy winter's day. I would recommend the larger tour boats, rather than the rafts seen here. They have toilets, are faster, more protective from the rain & the upper decks offer better views.

Hi Chris,thanks for the advice on choosing the type of boat to take, in fact in this season a covered boat is definitely useful. Great composition, I recognize the bamboos very well, and it's a surprise to find this carpet of ducks so close to the boats, maybe they don't eat them here .. ahhaa .. This photo has several interesting elements. The many ducks on the water, the flimsy-looking rafts, the nice curving bamboo trees and the spectacular mountains in the background. Good composition and colour.

Hello Chris,
managed to combine no-less than four subjects on this one photo: the mountains on the far side with its attractive shapes, the boats anchored ashore, countless birds on the water and the green thick forest ith tall trees.
Contrast and sharpness, light and shadows and yet - vivid colors obn the presantation.

Hi Chris,
I will keep your advice in mind. Especially the presence of toilets on board may make a huge difference.
Fantastic capture here with the silhouettes of the uniquely shaped mountains appearing from behind the mist.
The bamboo forest adds a vivid green touch, and the boats are so colorful.

With all that bamboo is this a panda area? Those rafts do look a bit dodgy. A good photo of the rafts with the those distinction peaks in the background.

when you visited the area the air wasn't so heavy and foggy as while I was there. marvelous the group of ducks as a special detail. the bamboo and the mountains are well matched in this beautiful view.
