Photographer's Note

Watching people going about their routine early in the morning is quite fascinating. Here in Lijiang, a place where I spent a whole morning scanning for photos, is indeed a delightful 800 year-old town - it was like stepping back in time with may narrow cobble-stoned alleys flanked by lovely old wooden buildings.

This is home to Naxi ethnic minority and a great place to experience local life in ancient China.

An early start on a calm cold morning, taken shortly after sunrise.

Setting: 40 mm, 1/80 sec, F5.6, ISO Raw 200, 0641 hrs

The early bird catches the worm so they say. You have certainly captured a wonderful moment here on your early morning jaunt. Superb light management reproduces the mood perfectly. Wonderful play of light and shadow. The man carrying his pail is ideally placed and makes an excellent focal point. Quite delightful.

The lighting here is first class and has amply illustrated the textures and tones of the wood and stone. Fantastic sharpness and the flagstone path adds good lead in lines. Good to have a person carrying 3 pots and bags. Tfs!

as i see you are waked up early in the morning like this breadwinner with the beams of the sun to just fall in some parts of the street,after the sunrise.
I like this lovely scenery with the lonely man to be placed perfect in the scene making even more attractive.

Beautiful early moment. Sunshine reaches this narrow alley around the corner and gives fascinating contrasty view of these traditional looking buildings. Pedestrian heading to day's work is perfectly placed.

This photo is so amazing that I had to fave it. The lights are really marvelous and the position of the man, who almost exits the picture raises the question where is he going? Anyway, its an excellent picture.

The light here is fantastic, starting to reveal the architectural details of the houses but still with dark shadows that give an interesting atmosphere to the scene! The worker is perfectly positioned and is the highlight of this wonderful photo! Very well done!

I came to Lijiang early in the morning with the night train and it looks like on this picture - all the souvenir shops were closed, only some Naxi people were going on the almost empty streets. Beautiful composition, the view that I well remember and liked.

An early start for the subject and the photographer. Both have a reason to get up early in the morning. It certain paid off - this image has a special atmosphere that cannot be recreated later during the day.
Fantastic play of light and shadow.

perfect view of the old street and its interesting faзades. the visual effect caused by the lower light added much more magic to the whole compo. the personage and his objects is a precious detail. TFS.
