This grassy marshland on the banks of Lashi Lake is paradise to thousands of birds, wetland animals and plants where large bird migration takes place every year usually in early winter to escape bitter cold of northern Yunnan. Located at the foot of towering Jade Dragon Snow Mountain at an elevation of 2500 meters,
the water body is the largest highland lake in Lijiang County with an area of about 80 square kilometers. This scenic place and its surrounding basin is also home to some 10,000 ethnics Naxi and Yi minorities who depend upon the watersheds resources for their livelihood.
