Ten years on TE

Budai is a Chinese folkloric deity. His name means "Cloth Sack", and comes from the bag that he is conventionally depicted as carrying. He is almost always shown smiling or laughing, hence his nickname in Chinese, the Laughing Buddha.His figure appears throughout Chinese culture as a representation of both contentment and abundance

With this smiling face I wanted to celebrate my anniversary here on TE, although I am rather pessimistic.
27th August 2007 I posted the first picture on TE (it was Perito Moreno in Argentina and I got 10 points). That day there were 32 pages of photos.
Stephen, Mesut, Jean (Jemaflor) Chris, Silvio, Lucas (Galodoido) Gert (also 10 points for Gamla Stan :)), Roland, Jorge, Terez93 also posted the pictures, so they are older than me :). The next year on the same day there were 27 pages, and in 2009 again 27. after that there was hard decline - in 2010 there were 13, later 9, than 9, then 8, 7, 6, 4, and now usually there are not full 3 pages.
So, looking at this trend, I am not sure if I will celebrate the next "birthday".

These ten years were wonderful time, I can say that my life has changed, something I could not expect. I got many inspirations for my travel, but first of all I met so many friends. I hope that I will meet more. Thanks you all that are still present and I missed the friends that are not anymore with us.

Oui, c'est vrai que le nombre de photographies est en baisse.
Malgrй tout, je reste attachй au site depuis de nombreuses annйes.
Cela reste un plaisir de dйcouvrir des paysages nouveaux. Des lieux inconnus ou non visitйs par les touristes.
Une belle image proposйe а travers ce bouddha.

Firstly, congratulations on this milestone! We can only hope that TE does not disappear into oblivion though present signs are not hopeful as you point hope. A delightful colourful composition perfectly suited to the symmetrical framing. Superb technical quality. Do I gather from your comments to Costantino that you are shortly off again on your travels, this time to the Greek Islands?

Happy Birthday! Ten years is a fairly long time, even for persons of our advanced age. I hope you will celebrate at least your 11th anniversary here, but probably not the 20th. I had to find out what I showed here 10 years ago. What a bad photo! How could I get even 10 points?
This is nice and amusing and this friendly fat man may be well chosen for the jubilee photo.

Hello Malgo,

You have printed some thoughtful notes with your photograph. We cannot control how people will spend their time and effort. What I miss most, is good advice from people with a keener eye or greater technical skills
So, like your beautiful photograph of the Laughing Buddha, keep smiling and maybe 10 years on we will be celebrating again!

Hi Malgo,

Bright cheerful colours of gold and red that contrast well with the blue grey tones in the fg. Good sharpness and the gold buddha steals the show. Tfs!

Much nice picture out of different countries you am a real traveler.
I read your little bit pessimism, but a lot of members are disappear, why is the question!

Troppo pochi, dovrai continuare fino a 20 e poi ancora, hai ancora molte nazioni da visitare e tante foto da fare.
Spero di riuscire ad avere la tua stessa voglia e il tuo stesso divertimento quando avrт i tuoi anni.
Che questo Buddha possa essere di buon auspicio per te e per noi tutti.
Grazie a TE ti ho conosciuto e ho conosciuto molti dei luoghi che hai visitato, posso solo essere felice di tutto questo.

Tez pamietam te czasy gdy kilka godzin po wrzuceniu zdjecia trzeba bylo je szukac na dziesiatej stronie ;) Ja staz mam nawet dluzszy, ale zdecydowanie mniej aktywny tu jestem.
Pewnie do kolejnej rocznicy uda sie jeszcze dotrwac, chyba ze wczesniej wlasciciel portalu sie rozmysli...
Ale przy okazji takiego jubileuszu badzmy optymmistami i zycze kolejnych dzisiatek lat podrozy (i oczywiscie relacji z nich tutaj)

Witaj Malgorzata Well, it's a sad feeling I have after having read your note; nevertheless the big smile on the budai's face can be understanded as many thanks for so much years of nice pictures showing the world you traveled around. As for me, I will stay online because post-processing for the best possible photo result is an intellectual remedy, so the gearings in my brain won't wedge! Pozdrawiam
