Photographer's Note
Aberdeen, not in Scotland but in Hong Kong. A port where the fishing boats are lined up. Traditional sampans are gradually disappearing from the local landscape and pleasure boats are more and more numerous in this port. Whatever the angle of view, in the background are always the tall buildings typical of this Hong Kong island.

Hello Jean,
This is a very good composition with a great combination of old and new. The very common and unglamorous boats make a perfect foreground, and in the background the many skyscrapers create what is almost a triangle. There are very elegant diagonal lines along the roof tops. You found a perfect POV for this photo and it is also technically very good.
Regards,
Gert

Hello Jean,
A great photo of the high-rise buildings together here, they seem to be creating their own kind of mountain. I like the pattern of the windows of the many towers. The small boats make a great foreground, the contrast is striking.

Jean, the traditional fishing boats moored in the port contrast with the modern skyscrapers standing in the bg. The picture shows different faces of Hong Kong. Excellent colors, perfect sharpness, regards.

Bonsoir Jean,
Cela me rappelle des souvenirs de mon voyage à Hong Kpng au mois d'avril, 1973. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des bateaux et des grattes-ciel. La lumière met en valeur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne soirée.

Boats houses contrast the luxurious towers in the famous Abardeen port, Jean. Nicely combined the subjects, with superior sharpness.

I like the 'w' shape formed by the bg highrise buildings. Good sharpness and a nice contrasts between the old junks and the new skyline. Tfs!

Bonjour, cher Jean,
Ces mégalopoles me font peur, j'ai l'impression d'étouffer rien qu'en découvrant ces villes immenses, sans âme (enfin, c'est l'impression que je ressens).
L'image reste malgré tout d'une beauté remarquable.
Amitiés.

Hi Jean
not sure if its the landscape or not, but could the photo benefit from a tilt correction? hard to tell, perhaps its not that at all. If you tilt it upward, then the building on the right will be too distorted - its a hard one. Its a great visual bc I don't recall seeing this port like this before, it captured my attention right away. I really do like the combo of tall buildings and boats. cheers

Hello Jean,
Yes, quite different from the Aberdeen, I know!
It would be a pity of the sampans disappeared, as they seem like an important part of the heritage of Hong Kong.
This is a very interesting, well composed photograph. Close up, we have the details of the boats, whilst the b/g IS HONG KONG! Those tall skyscrapers are touching shoulders, without a metre of space between them! But what a vibrant, textural b/g they make!
I love the inclusion of the flag, well placed and a link between the f/g and b/g features.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Jean, I imagined that in Hong Kong I would see everywhere the traditional sampans, it was for me the main attraction. I was very disappointed that I saw only one and after one day I just returned to "real" China. Here a nice part of the town that I missed. Impressive high buildings, not especially interesting.
Kind regards MAlgo

Hello, Jean!
It's interesting how the buildings seem to be forming a pyramid in the background, and there are a lot of interesting details to see in this port area, everything captured with very good light and sharpness! Well done!

Hello Jean, high density living is very obvious here.
An excellent sharp shot. We don’t see shots from Hong Kong very often, so it is good to see it from sea level.
The various boats are an interesting foreground.
Lovely work.
Thanks for sharing, regards Jean.

Bonjour Jean,
fantastic composition which well contrasts the modern high rise buildings with the old stylish traditional boats in the foreground.
Very well captured with high level of details. The boats provide so many interesting details to catch eye on.
I suppose in this period of time China is not easy to access for potential travelers so your reportage has a particular value.
Great geometrical shape as well.
Excellent work,
M
