Photographer's Note
This photo was taken at a small pier in the North Point district of Hong Kong Island.
The sampans in Hong Kong provide a less formal and more convenient mode of transport, but sometimes you need to be careful when boarding them.
In the background is the eastern side of the Kowloon peninsula.
Up until 1997, the buildings in Kowloon had to be much lower because of the old Kai Tak airport, but since then new skyscrapers have been 'sprouting up'.
The tallest building on the 'new skyline' is the International Commerce Center (ICC). It is currently the world's fourth tallest building as well as the tallest building in Hong Kong.
To the right of the photo are the 2 ferry piers at Hung Hom.
This view is only 2 streets away and 2 minutes away from this view, "China Life dot Hong Kong".

Hello Andrew,
Proper use of this colorful sampan to take us nicely on the background full of interesting details. I love your framing dynamics that gives a lot of depth to the image, sharpness is also very significant. I think I will be down to the water !!! Thank you Andrew.
With all my friendships and a great Sunday

Hello Andrew!
Great original idea and very attractive visual results! If I ever visited Hong Kong I'd certainly love to take that boat ride!
Sharpness, exposure, chosen pov, dof, colors, horizontal format, black borders, contrasts and, above all, composition are all excellent features here!
TFS - congrats,
Um ótimo domingo prá ti (Have a great sunday)!

Emilius

Bonsoir, cher ami Andrew,

Hi Andrew!
Somehow this photo reminds me of Dubai- the small traditional boats in contrast with the big modern city in background. The moment was very well chosen, with the man reaching the boat. Good colours also!

Hello Andrew,
This was uploaded a while ago but it's not too late to comment on it. It's a very fine composition with an excellent, colourful foreground and a superb background showing the Hong Kong skyline. The approaching boat connects the two parts very nicely. You mention Kai Tak. I once had the "privilege" of taking off from there. It was quite an experience.
Kind regards,
Gert

It's an excellent shot from Hong Kong. I like how you captured this photo with a colorful boat in the foreground and hazy skyline of Hong Kong in the background. Great vivid colors of the boat as also light, sharpness and interesting note.

Hi Andrew
A great daily life shot, which also seems to be a reportage photo on the ever-changing face of this busy city. I love characteristic old boats like this in any context, but here, up against all the modernity it seems even more attractive. Excellent sharpness, chromatic rendering and control of the shutter.
Have a great weekend
Lisa
