Photographer's Note

The Summer Palace is a vast ensemble of lakes, gardens and palaces in Beijing. It was an imperial garden in the Qing dynasty. Mainly dominated by Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake, it covers an expanse of 2.9 square kilometres, three-quarters of which is water.

Hello Gerrit,
This is far from the narrow hutongs, and I can't but admit that it looks nicer, and quite photogenic too. The palace, or parts of it, is well placed on the hillside with a great view of the lake, and the water lilies fill the foreground nicely. The many tourist boats show that this is a popular place to visit. It's a very pleasant and well composed photo eith fine colours.

Een prachtig en vredig gezicht op het meer vol kleine bootjes. De groene voorgrond is mooi en zorgt voor diepte en de gebouwen rechts op de groene heuvels zijn indrukwekkend.

Good morning Gerrit,
A nice choice to add the foreground vegetation, gave extra contrast to the lake scenery.
The water seem to be brown, earth erosion I guess. Yet the boats afloat there and the sight of the palace fit well to the whole composition.

What a wonderful landscape with the lake surrounded by gardens and trees, also the palace buildings are a great bonus to the composition as well as this plant in the foreground dotted with flowers.

Eйn van de mooiere foto's van het Zomerpaleis die ik ooit zag.
De vele waterplanten met hun bloemen zorgen voor een bijzonder aantrekkelijke voorgrond.
De bootjes verspreid over het meer creлren een ontspannende atmosfeer.
Aantrekkelijke kleuren en goede scherpte en compositie.
