AT NIGH IN PUDONG, a photo from Shanghai, East

I was tired, but I waited for the blue hour to take some photos of Pudong skyline. Many buildings and boats were lit but curiously the highest buildings, not.
After that I walked by Nanjing Road, a famous avenue and tried to find the metro station in People's Square, for some reason my GPS wasn't working in the area and I became walking in the same area for almost one hour like a fool, it was difficult to get help of locals because few people knew English, at the end I found the station and arrived in my hotel.

Eu estava cansado, mas esperei pelo fim do dia para observar os arranha-cйus e barcos de Pudong serem acesos, uma pena que os prйdios mais altos nгo ficaram iluminados.
Depois caminhei pela famosa Rua de Nanquim e fui ter а Praзa do Povo, mas meu GPS pifou e eu fiquei andando em cнrculos, perdido, por quase uma hora. Era difнcil pedir ajuda das pessoas, pois a maioria nгo sabia inglкs. Mas no fim acabei achando a estaзгo e fui para meu hotel.

Hello Jorge,

I feel for you, walking around, unable to get help and desperately trying to find the way back to your hotel!
It would be even harder at night, with fewer people and things looking different in shadow!

However, on the plus side, this really is a beautiful night shot!
There is just enough natural light in the sky, against which the tall buildings stand out, whilst the many different colours of artificial lights create magical shapes and twinkling contrasts.

I suppose you never considered using an old-fashioned map printed on paper? They always work well. ;-) Anyway, before you lost your way you took this impressive photo of the futuristic skyline and the bright illuminations on some of the buildings. The view makes a great impression thanks to the fine exposure.

A great night photo of the Shanghai skyline. The dark blue sky makes a good backdrop for the many towers and the illuminations stand out nicely too.

Ola Jorge, I love to read about the adventures during traveling, and you are always so funny. :). It happened also to me that I was lost. Even not long time ago, in St Petersburg, the last metro had left already and I had no idea where I was. HAha, I know how it is in China or Japan when no one knows English. But I have some methods. I have a small phrasebook, I can then to show what I want. Now they usually have the translator in the mobiles, so it is possible to communicate. The printed maps are sometimes not useful because it is difficult to find the place in which you just are. But the most important I print my reservation of the hotel IN CHINESE, as well as in English, there is the address and telephone, and I can show it to the taxi driver. It always worked. If the taxi driver didn't know the address, he could call to the hotel to ask the way.

Did you go to Nanjing Road? Plenty of lights there! A nice blue hour shot of the Pudong skyline that was worth waiting for. Good sharpness and yes the 2 boats are colorfully lit. Tfs!

Jorge, Pudong urban landscape looks an American city. Some skyscrapers are illuminated by night, they have a futuristic design. That district reflects Shanghai modernity and development. Good light management during the blue hour.

Very surprising indeed that the tops of the tallest buildings are not illuminated and others sparingly, but that there are also a few in full. It gives a wonderful contrast to the photo.

spectacular place but as you said, you would think this should be better lit by night.
You did the best what could be done and the result is not less impressive.
