‘Koh Rong Sanloem - The abandoned pier on M-Pai Bay’

Actually I have to say 'almost deserted' since another person was present.
This is not the pier used by the boats that bring travellers from Sihanoukville to M-Pai village.
At the end of the bay was another pier where no more boats docked.
It was smaller and simple in structure but more picturesque to me.
Therefore two more pictures of it in the WS.

I liked the colour of the sand under water in the shallow part of the sea and of course once again the view of Koh Koun in the distance.

What a great effect with the long wooden pier, Paul.
The sand seems so clear through the water and the changing colors from yellow/brown to blue is a wonderful asset to this picture.
Beautiful view of the green island on the far side, appearing on all 3 posts here.

Goedenavond Paul,

Uw hoek op de pier is de oude klassieke hoek, maar volgens mij nog altijd de mooiste.
Creлert heel mooie diepte en perspectief.
Technisch goed op twee derden gemaakt.
Het eiland dat opduikt op het einde, neemt zijn deel van de blauwe hemel, met zijn donker groene kleur.
Mooie samenstelling, goed foto werk, bedankt.

Hello Paul, the perfect placing of the pier in the composition.
I agree with you that the sand under the water is very attractive presenting you with lovely patterns of light.
A good choice for the main post; I like all three in actual fact.
The blue sky and sea are wonderful.

Hello Paul,
My first reaction was that this pier doesn't look entirely safe, then I considered that crashing into the water - and falling several centimeters - couldn't possibly do much harm. You really made it look very long, and the green hilly island provides a good background. But it's the colours of the sand under the shallow water that make the view outstanding. "Tropical paradise" could possibly be said about this place. Very attractive views in the WS too, but this is the best composition.

Hallo Paul,
De pier ligt perfect in het midden van de foto en lijkt wel helemaal naar het eiland aan de andere kant van het kalme water te reiken. De kleuren zijn heel mooi en vooral ook het contrast tussen de gele zandkleuren van het ondiepe water en de blauwe tinten verderop.

I love the colours of the sea here, with improbable range from warm yellow to cool blues that merge with the clear sky. The pier points towards the island. It's quite fascinating that the islands as well as the pier distorted by perspective are triangular.
This is my favourite of the three photos but they are all lovely.

La longueur du quai donne de la profondeur а la composition. Las prise de vue permet de voir les dйtails du quai et de l'оle en arriиre-plan. J'apprйcie les diffйrentes teintes de couleurs de l'eau. Bonne soirйe.

The yellow sand in the transparent water contrasts well with the blue sky & deeper turquoise water at the end of the pier, which adds good linear perspective. Tfs!

I absolutely agree with your main choice of photograph; here we get the benefit of the amazing, long perspective but, also the delightful rippling of the sunlight on the shallow water. It's just so sad that we cannot dip our toes in that inviting water.
A fine trio of photographs to create an in depth understanding.

Hi Paul,
I guess a totally abandoned pier wouldn't last for long over there. But this is charmingly aged. Water is very shallow there and we see the bottom all the way to the end of the pier. Lovely sunshine and strong feeling of tropics.

Hi Paul,
each of the photos of this pier which presented has such a different color scheme. I suppose it depends a lot on the time of the day. It is a beautiful composition. The pier leads the eye to the centre, we can almost imagine that it goes straight through to the island on the other side.
Fantastic colors. Great place, even without the ice cream van.

This is a very graphic composition, with the long pier receding into the distance and giving symmetry to the photo. The colour and texture of the shallow water is fantastic, and also the brilliant blue of the water and sky in the distance. Excellent sharpness and colour.

Very nice composition with this jetty that gives a tremendous perspective to the composition, the beach is fabulous we can see the transparency of the water in the foreground clearly, the green island in front of the jetty gives the feeling that this was the goal.
Point of view, sharpness, lightness, color and the chosen composition are excellent.

Great composition. The pier leads us out into the distance and towards the lush island. The water look so calm and clear. This looks like a great place to just sit and relax while dipping your toes in the shallow water and sand. I hope all is well with you. Take care!
