Jungle Temple, a photo from Siem Reab, West

Photographer's Note

Ta Prohm is the Jungle Temple in Cambodia. It was the backdrop and setting for the movie Lara Croft. It is an amazing ruin which was burned deep within the jungle for many years. There is still an ongoing conservation argument about how much they should preserve and how much they should allow nature to take its course. I felt the antiquing effect worked particular well with the aged subject matter.
The best time to see Ta Prohm is early morning- after doing a sunrise photo shoot of Angkor Wat- most of the tourists head back to their hotels for a lovely breakfast but you can ,instead, visit Ta Prohm in the early morning light with few other visitors.

I like the old feeling of the sepia tones in this picture. And it shows again, that the early bird catches the worm and the best photos are taken by just doing one step more than most others.

very nice picture that reminds me of the Mexican temples still buried in the jungle ..
Nature always reprove man on top ....

there is just one small problem of overexposure on the top of the photo. is it voluntary?

This looks like an ancient postcard from Ta Prohm,where I have been twice.
You found a good point of view and I like a lot the brown/sepia tones.

Hi Kathryn,
Very nice shot from this angle of Ta Phrom temple. In fact not only Tomb Raider was shot here but the first Transformers movie as well. I love all the temples around Angkor because its a paradise for photographers for photo shooting. Have a pleasant weekend!

What a wonderfully mysterious photo, the tree in the foreground is perfect and really adds an element of spookiness to the whoe scene. Great colour treatment as well, it really suits the image.
