Photographer's Note

The Royal Palace of Phnom Penh is a complex of buildings which are the royal abode of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Its full name in the Khmer language is Preah Barom Reachea Vaeng Chaktomuk. The Kings of Cambodia have occupied it since it was built in 1866, with a period of absence when the country came into turmoil during and after the reign of the Khmer Rouge.

I want to dedicate this photo to Bill and Alfred
We had the pleasure to meet them at Phnom Penh and went together to the Royal Palace ;)

Cest propre et soigne avec une bonne qualitй de couleurs (on dirait que tu avais un polariseur) et une grande nettetй. Le style est typique de l'architecture Neo-Khmere et se dйtache bien sur ce ciel d'un bleu pur.

ton choix m'est bien interressant et ta realisation est parfaite. Ne pas bouger ni a gauche ni a droite. La symetrie est par example, le fait positif.

Tu as jouй а fond la gйomйtrie pour cette composition c'est bien ce qu'il fallait faire pour cette entrйe qui a йtй ainsi conзue. J'aime beaucoup le contraste entre le ciel et les couleurs de la construction.

C'est vraiment tres tres etonnant ce type d'architecture. Bien vu d'avoir joue a fond la symetrie. Peut etre un peu trop polarise ce qui assombrit un peutrop le ciel. Tu aurais pu relever un peu a post processing. Juste un coup de niveaux sans doute. mais belle image en tout cas.

Thanks for the dedication of a superb wide angle shot. A square on shot of this entrance gate turns up surprisingly well, with excellent colour saturation, evenly distributed intensity of blue sky which as a BG contrast really well with the gate. Also surprising that there is minimal lens distortion from a 10-20mm lens. Very very good work.

1st of all, I am pleased that you took this great shot and show my golden GATE to the whole world. I only regretted that you had to pay entry fee to visit my palace, although I AM living inside this palace, I am not the owner, it belongs to the Cambodian people. But next time if you come to visit past mid-night through the back-door, I can arrange that you wont have to pay entry fee, plus you get a good supper free. Deal?...but dont tell everyone about this special arrangement for you, ok? Or else they may abdicate me from the throne :)) I am the current king :) hehe even if it is imitation fake. [end of humor]

Thank you very much moi, for this dedication because I do not get one from a pretty one and a french one with french keypad :) It is very sweet and thoughtful of you to think of me again [ok with you Laurent?] even after more than a month after meeting :) and NO, I did not try the happy pizza.

I know this capture of the gate is a winner when you showed your sceen wallpaper to me. Even though we all saw and passed by this gate, only YOU had the best eye and brain to get it so well. Impressive work. I like the perfect symmetry and how did you avoid the crowd of people so well? I think the proportion you gave to the blue sky is just sufficient to make the contrast stands out.

It has been a pleasurable 2-day mingling with both of you, especially in another territory like Cambodia. I certainly look forward to see you both again.

Une symйtrie d'abord surprenante, puis on devine que tu as presque rampй pour dйgager un ciel pur et vaste, et au final l'ensemble est trйs agrйable!
