Photographer's Note

It was a wonderful warm night when we went back to our hotel near Piazzale Roma,after a long day of walking.
From the santa Lucia railway station we crossed the bridge over Canal Grande to the San Polo area,than we came into this very pictoresque little canal,everything looked azzuri kind of blue..
For me as lover of operette,"eine nacht in Venedig" from Johann Strauss was in my head.

Hi Jan,
A photo of Venice which is so attractive and a little different from the usual ones we see in routine. Yes, I can see Gondolas in the canal, but there is something very special about this shot. I like this evening atmosphere, the fantastic colors and the colorful scintilating reflections of lights in the water. A warm ambience all over.
A perfect composition. My favorite.

i think even those with vision impairments could sense the beauty and tranquility here.
cute how you included the 'hotel' signage too.
this is unique, in that we usually see these areas busy and teaming with people.

A lovely blue hour shot which captures the warmth and lights radiating from an evening in Venice. The reflections are particularly attractive, whilst your pov uses the river well and allows it to take the viewer to a strong disappearing point.

Good balanced composition and viewpoint help to focus attention on the interesting parts of this image. Superb shot, i am sure the night life there is great. I love the lights and really appreciate the depth over the whole picture with good lead-in. Hi Jan,
a perfect time for a blue hour shot, not really completely dark yet but the city light is alreay on to adds some liveliness and colors and also to help illuminated the surrounding building. Great color on the building and sky. Very sharp even on the reflection of the water, I generally think the water would be smoother because of the long exposure at this time of day. I thought the refleciton light on the water is a bit green because of the mix of blue and yellow. I would have like to see it more toward warmer tone like gold or orange. Composition is great and the POV put us right on the canal.
