First sun, mist and reflections, a photo from New South Wales, East

Shortly after I took yesterday's photo I looked across the lake to the west for this view with the sun just high enough to shine on the tops of trees. Below the trees was more mist and then reflections on the smooth water of the lake.
After I took this photo we went for a 2 hour walk right around the lake. The workshop photo was taken after the walk in roughly the same spot as the main photo. What a difference 2 hours can make!

Hello Ian, Interesting to compare the photos of the same place in two different times of the day. Fantastic haze in the main one. I like here how the tops of the trees are in the light.

Hello Ian,
There's a fantastic light shining on the tree tops, but it's the mist filling the shady area that makes the view really attractive. There's a very good light in the WS too, and the fine reflections remain, but the misty magic was gone. But both photos are very good and well composed.

Hi Ian,

A great combination of mist, shade, sunlight and reflections. You chose a nice little scene here. I haven't been to Thirlmere Lakes for over 50 years. Still looks like a nice area.

Ian, a symmetrical reflection of the forest reflecting on the lake. Good play of shadow and light. The mist adds a mysterious atmosphere. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hello Ian,

It was interesting to compare the two photographs, to observe the changes. Either could have been a main post but, I agree with your choice; the mist adds a different hue and unfolding mystery into the scene.
Rotating the photograph, gives a lovely, almost symmetrical abstract pattern.

Lovely mirror like reflection in the placid waters which add great symmetry. Good sharpness and well composed using the rule of thirds. The mist adds mood and atmosphere. Tfs!

The reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the reflections and of the trees. The light is giving good colors rendering. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian, very interesting to compare the two shots with two hours between them. This is the one I prefer with the mist giving a muted reflection of the trees on the water.

another fabulous compo using well that soft mist in the surface of the waters and, at same time, using the reflections and creating a kind of sandwich of image.

What a beautiful reflection you captured. The water is perfectly still, and the mist creates an interesting layer between the real trees and the reflected ones. I like the illuminated treetops and the reeds in the water, too. Take Care!

amazing effect indeed. The workshop photo is great anyway but it has shifted from attractive to spectacular. I am very impressed here how well you have balanced the exposure of various areas and colors as well. These were very challenging conditions.
Dark misty area in the centre and bright sunrise above and below.
