A Morro Rock Sunset, a photo from California, West

Photographer's Note

Morro Rock, in all it's splendor, rises over 500 feet above sea level as it keeps watch over Morro Bay, a small town along the central California coast. Otters live and play in the bay (foreground) and otter sight-seeing boats make their regular rounds so that tourists can enjoy their antics.

Well composed seascape with beautiful twilight hues and relflections thereof. The ferry boat adds an extra dimension to the image. Fine pov and impressive focus.

One of my favorite shots I've taken is of Morro Rock (not that it's a technical masterpiece or anything, but it has a special place in my heart). It was from a much further angle in darker, mistier dusk light, however. This one explodes with color despite the rock itself hiding in shadow. Still, you did very well with the exposure, maintaining a great glow while revealing detail of the rock itself. The small boat making its way toward the rock completes the image. Nice shot.

Hello, this is a much loved coastal town for the Gold Coast of California. Great colors at sunset. Pretty cool dusk light and lucky timing with the boat there. Although the rock is almost in silhouette the photo is wonderful.
I hope you went to Montana de Oro State Beach, it has amazing tide pools and coastal trails. (Pssst, you are in my neck of the woods).
