Photographer's Note

2010 Lyon Festival Of Lights. Another cool opportunity to get out there and shoot! This year there were a lot of tripods out there..
As a reminder, it happens on the 8th of December and has recently been extended to a few days after that.
The city expresses gratitude toward Mary, mother of Jesus on December the 8th of each year. This tradition dictates that every house place candles along the outsides of all the windows to produce a spectacular effect throughout the streets.
The festival also includes other activities based on light with 80 happenings throughout the city, set up by various artists, students or inhabitants.
On the picture, you can see the Htel-Dieu building, a former hospital, soon to be renovated into something else. The rays of light actually come from the Fourvire basilica, at the top of the neighboring hill.
