Photographer's Note
I am near the end of my short journey to England in early June 1980. This is Land's End, the southwestern tip of the English mainland. I came here by bus from St. Ives, where I had taken the photos I showed in my latest upload.
In my diary I noted there were lots of tourists, snack bars and ice cream stalls at Land's End, but also that the rocks were "fairly impressive". I strolled around for a while in the strong wind, watching the barren scenery, listening to the waves crashing onto the rocks and the seagulls screaming.
Obviously I also took a few photos.
Here is a larger version.
In the WS you can see some of the other visitors that day.
Both photos were scanned from Kodachrome slides. I will post one more photo from Land's End (and a WS) before I move somewhere else.

Hi Gert
In remembering my visit there we went the other way and walked the coastal track to the next town (and bus) so I didn't see this view. A good one and no tourists in sight, despite your notes.
cheers

Hello Gert,
Great memories!
Your w/s is so period! Would you see a tourist, dressed in a skirt suit (used to be called a 'costume') carrying a huge handbag, standing on the rocks, sightseeing, these days! I think not! They would be dressed in jeans and a sweater or anorak!
Your shot immediately made me think of Hyacinth Bucket (Bouquet) who always dressed like this!
Lovely views of Cornwall. The soaring gull guides inwards to the strongly placed white buildings on the cliff top.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hi Gert
A quite beautiful capture of this rugged and desolate coastline, with its steep cliffs and unforgiving shoreline for any boat or ship that gets too close. The manor complex on the hill looks like it might have been the residence of a lighthouse keeper at one stage. Good sharpness and natural looking colour. Tfs!

Hello Gert,
Cornwall rocky shores are well in its reputation for wild yet attractive sights.
A fine two pictures from almost three decades ago, a superb scanned job done.
Have a nice new week,
Ike

Hi Gert,2 beautiful memories another time, your series from England is close to the end and i think that it's one of your best talking about views and quality. Here i can see a classic postcard with the special bonus of the in flight gull very very sharp, but the most beautiful for me is the WS,in fact the people seems actors in pose for you to do a perfect memory of the start of these wonderful years! Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Hello Gert, One can compare this picture with the one by Lars here. Nothing has changed, no big hotels with the sea view (luckily!). Lovley view of the sea gull, curious green stones.
The longest non-circular journey in Britain is from the most northern tip of the island to the southernmost spur of it. Land's End, and John-o-Groats, are 874 miles apart. here the other end .
Have a nice Sunday
Finally I started to look at my Iran photos, I haven't seen them yet, only a few.

Hi Gert,
You have captured well the power of the waves. The point of view os showing the details of the cliffs. The light is giving nice tints to the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Gert,
Two beautiful photos of the cliffs at Land's End to end this series. What kind of photos could you take beyond this end. The workshop photo in particular appealed to me with these people in their old-fashioned clothing as if they were specially placed for the photographer.
Excellent presentation
Have a nice Sunday, groet Rob

That is a very impressive scan from a slide. Quite clear and colorful. You must preserve your slides well / Well done. You must have a very good converter - what make or brand is it. I have lots of slides but the conversion seems poor. D A V I D

Hello Gert, there may have been some rockfall since then but I don’t think that this view has changed very much. The buildings on top have though. It is much more commercialised now, so we tend not to go near!
Cornwall has some impressive cliffs and this view must be one of the most photographed.
An excellent scan.
I love the alternative view where the people stand frozen looking at the view! And as for their outfits!
Thanks for sharing, kind regards Jean.

Hi Gert
Dramatic landscape photo with the cliffs, rightly, occupying most of the space and attracting viewers' attention. But it's of course the building on top of the cliff that is truly the icing on the cake. Your photo reminds me that the weather can be nice in the British Isles, at times... well... not today... not this month or last month or the month before last (I don't mind October as I was away most of it). ;-)
The people in WS look, indeed, like characters from a movie or a video clip (Pink Floyd maybe?). :-)
Best wishes
Kasia

Dear Gert,
So you showed us the end concretely and in an abstract way, meaning that your series is coming to its end. To be hones, I like the WS better, with its quite absurd character.
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Gert, the southwestern tip of England mainland ends with rocky cliffs. The site is very spectacular, swept by the winds. The view should be breathtaking from the manor built at the top of the cliff. The visitors who use the hiking trails are not disappointed. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Hej Gert,

these "land ends" are ever attractive and special in terms of geology. I liked the view and imagine the owners of the house had a nice view up there. nice details including a seagull.

Hello Gert,
I like the rugged shoreline in the main entry. The attires of the ladies in WS photo are so precious, so 80s and so British! 👍🏻👍🏻

Bonjour, cher Gert,

Hi Gert.
Fantastic these rock cliffs, which in some areas are seen as very stratified and with various shades of color, some seem close to detach.
Wonderful image, sharpness, exposure, colors and POV are excellent.
Photo very well done. I like it
Enjoy a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hallo Gert Obviously this "Land End" looks rather inhospitable to attract the tourists, despite its location by the sea. I noticed the seagull and I have just been informed that nests are usually built on the ground and that a few species prefer cliffs for nesting, including the kittiwakes.
So there might be lot of secret life hiding in this boulder anyway! Thanks for this piece of brute beauty. Halsningar
