Blues in a Doorway, a photo from Edinburgh, Scotland

Photographer's Note

These two guys were playing the Blues on slide guitars in a doorway on Rose St. in the city centre. I've seen them before, but have never had my camera with me at the time.

Blues guitar might not be something you travel to Edinburgh to hear, but these guys sound good! There's a huge jazz&blues scene here, with free gigs every night of the weeks somewhere in town. There are a couple of dedicated jazz clubs, but musicians are everywhere trying to make their start.

The photo was taken in colour. Post production involved cropping (one guy was wearing bright white trousers) and photoshop sepia-isation :) I added a little noise through photoshop too.

Cool pic! I love playing blues on guitar myself and I can almost feel the groove. Were they playing only instrumental tunes? I would like to see a different version where one of the guys are singing. That would make a more lively picture, I think. But I love this one too. They look so devoted to their music! Thanks for sharing.

How interesting this one is. The expressions on musicians faces always seem so focused. The shot came out very well in the sepia tone and is well composed.

So strange though to think about blues being played so far away in Edinburgh. It's made it a long way from here in Memphis.

Exelent pciture.
The angle you use to took this pciture is lovely, I like in fact too the disntace you use to took this, and the color is beauty.

Congratulations I like the picture just like that is perfect, the postures of this guys a re very nice I like the moment when you decided to shot your camera.

I love this! It captured the moment with a very 'real' feeling. It's a pity that the guitars have been cut off; I might have cropped it differently. But then again, this crop effectively focuses on their expressions, which is also perfectly valid. I just wonder if more of their instruments - the source of their passion - might add to that...
Wish I'd been there to hear them!
