Sailor dream, a photo from Cagliari, Sardegna

Photographer's Note

This is the small islet of Campionna just few miles at south east of Capo Malfatano which can be seen in the background, shot nearly at sunset. As many of you know I’ve posted several photos taken in this area where I use to spend my sailing vacation in summer.
The time for another holidays there is approaching, as soon as I will be free from my engagements I’ll prepare my boat and I’ll sail west… toward the setting sun.

No colour toning or filters for this photo. Just my normal workflow routine with the raw file.

Come molti di voi sanno ho giа pubblicato diverse foto di questa zona dove sono solito passare le mie vacanze estive in barca a vela. Il tempo di una nuova vacanza si sta avvicinando, non appena sarт libero dai miei impegni, preparerт la mia barchetta e dirigerт la prua a ovest… verso il sole che tramonta.

Nessun viraggio o filtro и stato usato per questa foto. Solo la mia normale routine di lavoro con il file raw

Ciao Donato. A poetic and artistic rendition of the seaside scenery. Compo-wise, the high placement of the horizon line is a good choice to give attention to the vast expanse of the sea, gradually leading the viewer's eye to the gentle hills as the eye is diving into the frame. The light setting is very good to give this layered impression of the landscape features, and to render an almost golden tonality. I can see why you are looking forward to spending the next holidays there, it looks like everything one would wish for in terms of a refreshing and inspiring place.

Il mare vuoto, senza barche o altri oggetti, и un po' la chiave di questa immagine, dove ognuno immagina qualcosa in quello spazio e lo stesso autore posiziona idealmente la propria imbarcazione proiettandovi gli eventi del prossimo futuro.

What lovely gold colour tonalities and amazing mood in your sailor's dream! A good composition where you have left the biggest part to the glittering sea. The shadows,lights and ripples on the water make it very vivid and pleasurable. Ottimo lavoro!
Sailing west will bring you to Ibiza. Are you going to head to that island?

the colour gamma of this photo really looks curious! and judging by the time when you took this photo, for this time of the day...
... well, Nature often offers us strange combinations and variations of colours!
I am much interested in the silhouettes of the distant mountains and of the islet (which is the closest to us, as far as I see). They all are of a different tone and darkness/lightness (if I may say so). They look like cutouts or layers. Despite anything, this photo (to me!) seems a 2D image.
Composition-wise, it is a very interesting photo. Also, in MY very humble opinion, I would sacrifice a bit of the bottom - and crop about 5cm, maybe... the effect would be very different, then! I wonder what you think of this???

So you are dreaming about your sailing holidays... No wonder, it must be great to sail towards the sun. Nice colours. The water surface looks very strange here, more like a sand. The mountains look wonderful. What an atmosphere... In such a place it could be nice even for me...

wonderful mood with all these diferent bronze hues that you got here. The composition the the hight waterline and the alternating silhoutte of the hills is really something good. At first look it seems te a simple image, but only the seasoned admirer will understand the true mastery behind the shot.

Love the PP work you did here with the sepia, looks really romantic and blissful. Otherwise, quite nicely composed, with the upper part of the photo more saturated with elements, and letting that flow into the open. Good balance to it.

I like much these soft colors. Very pretty light and a very beautiful almost lunar landscape with islands. On the other hand, I would have perhaps given a little less place to the sea by supporting a panoramic format but it is only one idea: -)

Sono appena tornato dal viaggio che abbiamo fatto in Grecia e Turchia con lo scooter...21 giorni fantastici, il mio primo post per atmosfere e luoghi assomiglia molto a questo tuo scatto solo che и preso all'alba. Mi piace particolarmente la tonalitа sabbia e il movimento increspato delle onde. E' un po' che non posti! .. sei giа per mare?

la tonalitа della luce e l'atmosfera sono bellissime ed anche la scelta compositiva и eccellente, sм da conferire grande profonditа al paesaggio.
Si nota un leggero eccesso di sharp che, a mio personale giudizio, penalizza leggermente la morbidezza dell'immagine.
Comunque una gran bella foto!

Hi, Donato,

This is an elegant composition with technically strong features.

I love the finely resolved texture of the sea surface and also the bright patchy illumination.

It was a nice idea to devote half of the frame to the visually rich sea surface.

The variously shaded hills in the far field complement nicely the overall warmly mysterious feel of this image.

the simplicity of the landscape in combination with golden tones and texture of the water are the things that attract me to this photo, I enjoy the calm and tranquil mood the image creates. there seems to be a slight halo around the edges of the mountains, but that might be the fault of the monitor I'm using right not. moody shot in any case, I like it a lot.

I love the simplicity of this shot, The vast open sea gives us such a peaceful mind and open heart. My spirit is taking flight into this landscape. The grimmering light is really wonderful. I can feel the wind in my hair, softly touching my skin. The soft layers of the mountains with different shades of tone give depth to the landscape. The golden browning tone fit well here for this composition.

Ahh, il tuo titolo si dice tutto. E un fiabba. Come hai detto prima, abbiamo i stessi gusti riguarde l'amore del mare. Che colori. La luce sul mare sembra diamonti ed i toni morbidi nel sfondo sono d'oro. E un vero momento decisivo ed imdimenticabile.
