Photographer's Note
Boğazkale (formerly Boğazköy) is a small town of almost 1,400 people adjacent to the Hittite ruins of Hattusa which is behind me here. The museum is excellent and has many original pieces, one of which, the sphinx, was returned by Berlin Museum in Germany in 2011, following threats to impose restrictions on German archaeologists if it wasn't. There are a couple of mid range hotels and it's possible to hire a taxi to do a circuit of the ruins and go back the next day to explore some sites in depth. More info here:

Hattusa was the former Hittite capital but was destroyed several times previously, but for the last time around 1200 BC. "Hattusa was destroyed, and the Egyptian pharaoh Amenhotep III (1390–1352 B.C.) declared, in a letter tablet found at Tell el-Amarna, in Egypt, that “The Land of Hatti is finished!”"
Not quite. Hattusa was rebuilt Phoenix like and survived until around 1200 BC. Tarhuntassa, the new capital of the Hittites, has never been discovered. More info here:

Hello Chris,
Red roofs in a green environment, on both sides of the winding narrow road. It could hardly look nicer. The many trees also make this look like a very inviting place. The light is great too. This is one of the (many) places I haven't seen in Turkey, although I have seen a lot. That country is just overwhelming. What a pity that politically it's not very nice now.
Kind regards,
Gert

Bonsoir, cher Chris,
Merci de nous faire découvrir les petits villages. C'est bien agréable de voir ces maisons éparpillées parmi un environnement montagneux.
Quant aux nuages, ils sont merveilleux et viennent compléter le tableau avec bonheur.
Amitiés.

Hello Chris,
What a beautiful view of this charming village and the beautiful landscape around it. The sunlight couldn’t have been more favourable. It brings out the appealing colours so well. The composition is excellent and I particularly love the winding path running through the village with its orange roofs.

Hello Chris,
I love to see your photographs, for they usually relate to some ancient ruins that you have visited, which I then research on the Internet.
This is perfect for colours, exposure and composition.
The meandering path guides us leisurely between the pretty, terracotta-roofed houses, sitting snuggly in the green terrain.
It looks an attractive place.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Almost thought this was Israel, Chris, the landscape is similar to placesin the Lower-Galilie.
Beautiful red roof-tiles contrast the lavish green even as summer was already in full swing there.
Like it a lot, bravo for the chosen POV.

Bonjour Chris,
La route envoie mon regard au loin ce qui donne de la profondeur à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des maisons. La bonne luminosité rehausse la beauté des couleurs. Bonne journée.

Hi Chris,
this is such a picturesque scene!
I like very much the well saturated all natural colors which make the picture literally eye catching!
Great POV from above and perfect use of the motif of the road which makes a lovely turn in the frame between the charming houses.
Simply beautiful!!

Hi Chris
when I think of Turkey, this isn't exactly what i'm thinking about. But then again thats what makes the scene stand out right? Interesting note about the Sphinx and the politics surrounding it too.
lovely sky, clouds, greens, and red rooftops. the winding road stands out as a perfect element too. cheers

Hello Chris,
What a lovely, typical Anatolian village with its winding dirt road and irregularly placed houses. I am surprised it was a green as this in June, I am sure the surrounding area turned brown/yellow by midsummer.
Regards,
MT
