Basel from Saint Martin’s

In my previous photo I showed the Basel Minster, the cathedral in the heart of the city with its iconic red twin towers, Georgsturm and Martinsturm, which are both accessible. This photo offers a view of Basel and the river Rhine as seen from the latter, Saint Martin’s Tower (so maybe I should’ve waited till Monday with this photo as November 11 is Saint Martin’s Day). Of course I also show this photo because of the coloured tiles of the roof.

Notre regard plonge avec dйlices sur les toitures de l'йdifice religieux. Ces tuiles vernissйes formant des figures gйomйtriques colorйes sont superbes.

Hello Lars,

I wouldn't have imagined that you could get such a view of the roof, it's stunning!
The tiled decoration is like a giant mosaic! Can you imagine working out that pattern on the top of this high roof!

The f/g details are sharply captured and act like a balcony to the view over the Rhine and the extended city.

Det дr en fin vy цver staden pе andra sidan floden, men det дr fцrstеs det fantastiska kyrktaket som mest fеngar allas blickar. Visserligen дr vдl den stilen ganska vanlig i Centraleuropa, men det дr likvдl en enorm prestation att kunna skapa ett sе fint mцnster pе en sеdan plats. Vilken fruktansvдrt jobb, och inte kunde de ta in billiga slit-och-slдng-arbetare frеn Moldavien eller Bangladesh pе den tiden. Undrar hur mеnga som slog ihjдl sig hдr.

Hallo Lars,

A good downward pov on Basel with the patterned roof reminding me of Steppenplatz in Vienna. Excellent sharpness and the new high rise bg building provides a stark contrast. Perspective in this superb wide angled shot has been well managed. Tfs!

Lars, this roof was built by using splendid colored tiles. The elevated pov offers a ravishing panorama of Basel in the bg as well as the Rhine river. Nice architectural details. Fine colors, good image quality, instructive photo note, regards.

Hello Lars, you really did gain some height so that you could take this shot, and what a view it has given you.
The glass faced skyscraper looks totally out of place.
Zooming in on the scene I see everything in amazing sharpness.
The tiled roof in the foreground is delightful.

It is a nice cityscape, but the most interesting feature is the roof of Basel Minster. It looks as though rugs were laid on the roof. 👍🏻👍🏻

Hello Lars, I also climbed this tower (http://beta.trekearth.com/viewphotos.php?l=5&p=1534465) and admired the view of the Rhine and the coloured roof.
Excellent composition, great view of the other side of the river with the people enjoying sun on the steps.
Have you seen the Tinguely Museum and fountain?

I really like the green colours in this picture, starting with the beautiful patterns of the tiled roof, leading the eye to the green river, and then to the tree-dotted river bank, the roofs of the city, and lastly to the hills in the horizon.
