Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

Have you heard of the Glorious Twelfth?
It refers to the 12th of August, when shooting begins of the game birds, grouse. I suppose it's not so very glorious for the birds! (There is more information about The Glorious Twelfth, if you click here. )

You may wonder how my photograph connects with the Glorious Twelfth. Well, when we were walking across Elslack Moors, near Skipton, we happened upon this shooting hut.

I have seen groups of hunters preparing to go on a shoot, when I have been driving along the road towards Skipton, but never before I have seen where they wait for their prey.

I found it both interesting and sobering. I am told that hunting the birds actually improves their chances of survival, which is as maybe, I just don't think I could pull the trigger!

It is warm and sunny at breakfast time, here, in the U.K.
Hope it's a great day for you all. Bev :-)
