Photographer's Note
27 Sept
A day after the continuous pouring of rains of typhoon Ondoy (local name), many people are still missing including children, left homeless, people, including children and infants, spending the night on rooftops without food. Government rescue operations is slow, all land routes are inaccessible. Many have volunteered, people are donating food, clothes, medicines and helping hands. This was the worst flooding of the city's among many. The storm left many gruesome pictures of the devastation.
Please do not rate photo, your critiques and sympathies are very welcome though. Thank you.

Hi Alex,
I hope everything is well there in the chaos with you and your family.
I have been following the news on the Philippine internet news sites with a bit more interest then most of the TE members I think as my wife is from the Philippines (living in Cebu though) which was hardly hit by the rain.
The choice for black and white is much more appropriate then color in this situation I think. It is a personal tragedy for many people who lost almost everything and were not insured and also a disaster for the Philippine economy. I hope they can recover soon!
Take care!
Harko

Hi Alex!
A great shot and a good dedication to all people of this region, who suffer because of this catastrophy.
B&W was a very good choice here.

My prayers to all Filipinos affected in this recent tragic flooding. I've seen broadcast images and videos of what Typhoon "Ondoy" has brought to this lovely country.
At noon of 29Sep HK Time, Typhoon Ketsana or Ondoy [local name in the Philippines] was centred about 140 kilometres southeast of Danang. It is forecast to move west at about 12 kilometres per hour towards central Vietnam.
Meanwhile, Tropical Depression Parma was centred about 230 kilometres southeast of Yap. It is forecast to move northwest at about 14 kilometres per hour across the seas east of the Philippines.
I hope it doesn't pass the Philippine territory.

About the Photo:
Photo just reminds us of how nature can be so devastating in our lives. Your use of B&W just shows a documentary of sadness, suffering of the people affected by the massive flooding.
I guess in this feature, photography is not all about life's fascination and beauty but also a capture of the dark side of what can happen when nature calls.
Thanks for sharing Alex.
