Photographer's Note

A view of one of the entrances to Jabrin Castle. Obviously the cannons are only decorative and are discharged, but the gentleman who walks on kept looking in that direction. Surely he had other thoughts in mind, but in this way I managed to photograph him without him noticing.
Jabreen Castle was an important center of learning for astrology, medicine and Islamic law, usually for Oman's forts and castles, there's quite a lot to discover inside the vast battlements. There is an interesting date store, for example, to the right of the main entrance. The juice of the fruit would be run along the channels into storage vats.
The most interesting feature of this castle is the elaborately painted ceilings. Several rooms, that seem to spring from different courtyards in the heart of the keep, sport ceiling timbers with the original floral motifs. Finding these hidden rooms is part of the fun and the original defensive mechanism of Jabreen. To find the burial chambers, remarkable for their carved vaults, and the room earmarked for the sultan's favorite horse.
Jabreen's location, trapped between the mountain and a particularly arid part of the desert, roars under a ferocious sun, of the year, hence the falaj (irrigation channel) early air-con system.

Una vista di una delle entrate del castello di Jabrin. Ovviamente i cannoni sono solo decorativi e sono scarichi, ma il signore che passeggia continuava a guardare in quella direzione. Sicuramente aveva altri pensieri in testa, ma in questo modo sono riuscito a fotografarlo senza che lui se ne accorgesse.
Jabrin, noto anche come Jabreen, и una piccola cittа nel Governatorato di Ad Dakhiliyah nel nord-est dell'Oman vicino a Nizwa e le montagne di Jabal Akhdar.
La cittа и conosciuta per il suo imponente castello, costruito nel 1675 dall'Imam Bil-Arab Bin Sultan. Il castello di Jabreen era un importante centro di apprendimento per l'astrologia, la medicina e la legge islamica, di solito per i forti e i castelli dell'Oman, c'и molto da scoprire all'interno dei vasti merli. La posizione di Jabreen, intrappolata tra la montagna e una parte particolarmente arida del deserto, ruggisce sotto un sole feroce, da qui il falaj (canale di irrigazione) ed i primi sistemi di aria condizionata.

Hello Luciano,
I thought this was the same fort you showed a short time back, but that was another place. The colours seemed similar, maybe they are common in Oman. Although the wall is nice in its slightly "dirty" pink tone, and with the cannons by the entrance, it's very much the man who makes the picture. The grey ground also matches the wall quite well. It's a nicely taken photo but I will have to come back here later to see the WS photos.

It does seem that the man didn't really trust the two cannons on both sides of the entrance. Very well captured with great timing. Also the light was wonderful and I love the different textures of the walls and the gravel.

Belle teinte avec une bonne gestion de la capture des contrastes de luminositй et bon rendu pour cette partie а l'ombre. C'est pris au bon moment avec ce passant qui semble regarder les canons.

Ha! Ha! Luciano, you were both clever and patient to wait for this figure to walk into the scene. You are right, he looks to be treading with great trepidation, at the thought of the cannon being trained on him! This single figure gives a strong storyline to your photograph. interesting the simple shapes of the castle and the gate with the cannons in evidence and the personage crossing the area adding movement and life to the compo. I wouldn't surprised if these cannons were portuguese.

The man was looking at both cannons and played with the idea of changing their direction to point them at the photographer. :)
Maybe a gun was pointed at you inside the loophole on the left? Just kidding.
Very remarkable but beautiful textures of the huge wall.
The gate is very large but the actual entrance seems quite small.

Luciano, Jabrin castle looks undamaged, the place is well maintained. Two cannnons are found around a door leading to the building interior. The person walking in the courtyard adds life to the composition.

The brown variable tones of the wall are grabbing most attention at first look, Luciano.
Relatively small entrance gate "guarded" by two old guns.

these are sometimes my favourite types of architectural and city shots...using a large wall like that, and having a person walk into the scene, and having the minimalist feel come out strongly. So simple and smart, 1 person, 1 wall, and the street. awesome! cheers

The walls of the castle have such a beautiful texture. I also like the color. The man walking by with the blue turban adds a splash of brighter hues to contrast the other more earthy colors. I like the shapes surrounding the small door, too.

Ciao Luciano Again you devised a magnificent setup enliven of the man in blue. Is he tiptowing for fear of firing the cannons or simply amazed at the excellent depiction of the entrance, which is much lighter than the wall itself. If they lit the entrance using distant strong lights, it'a a good idea. If you applied magic only to the door, you're an accomplished artist.
If these two theories doesn't apply, I will shut up and leave!!
