216- Good night Hierapolis !, a photo from Denizli, Aegean

Photographer's Note

We started our visit of Hierapolis-Pamukkale in bright mid-afternoon, with the gymnasium .
We were then given some time to visit the theatre by ourselves, before going for a little paddle in the travertines .
The sun was starting to go down when we went on to the agora , although it didn't show yet on St Philip's martyrium situated North-East of where we were.
By the time we had come to the necropolis, we were definitely into the sunset .
And this present picture was the good-bye photo to the antique city.
I quite liked the silhouette of the tall cypresses that brought some magnificence to the place.
The thin, bright line which you can see between the short trees and the hills are the beginning of some travertines.

What a beautiful way to write the notes for the image. Congratulations for this nice idea. Its a beautiful story and a journey too.
BTW: I like the soothing effects of the evening, with the Sun going down, and the silhouettes mingling with darkness.

I can't take my eyes off of that soft coral color in the sky, the light's amazing! The clouds are like a pearly tender veil and the contrast with the cypress trees is superb. Magnetic picture for sure!

Un coucher de soleil des plus spectaculaire surtout avec les arbres en ombres chinoises qui donnent une certaine texture а l'ensemble. J'aime beaucoup l'effet de la lumiиre sur les nuages.

A wonderful sunset photo indeed. To take a good photo of the sunset is a challenge. Here you have made excellent use of that the sun is veiled by thin clouds and thereby avoided too much contrast between the sky and the foreground. Both are perfectly exposed. You have also avoided the temptation to oversaturate the photo. Finally it is very well composed with the cypresses well positioned to the right. TFS and have a nice day!

Wonderful - I never took any evening photo's whilst in Turkey - we started our traveling so early each day & by the time we reached our destination at night - we could hardly face a meal - just wanted to sleep... what an amazing country we loved our 7 nights there - just not long enough to see everything.

Yes, there is something magical about the sunset at Pamukkale. If you use a bit of imagination, you might agree with me that it looks like the cypresses are waving goodbye to the sun!
We spent our last day of sightseeing in Bowling Green, KY visiting the Mammoth Cave National Park. We hope to make the 8+ hours drive back to PA tomorrow.

Very moody and very sharp sunset photo.
Sunset in themselves is a subject that I believe all photographers both old and new will touch, and over time their depiction of that particular sunset will develop. Lovely use of the silhouettes against the velvet structure of the sky.
