Scheidegg with the Jungfraujoch in the background
(Grindelwald, Kanton of Bern, Switzerland)

Grindelwald is a picturesque traditional mountain village in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. Long famed as a winter tourist destination with slopes for beginners, intermediates and the challeges of the Eiger glacier for the experienced, there are activities for the non-skiers, from tobogganing to groomed winter hiking tracks. It is the usual starting point for ascents of the Eiger and the Wetterhorn. Nowadays Grindelwald is also a popular summer activity resort with many miles of hiking trails across the Alps. The Wengernalpbahn connects Grindelwald to the Kleine Scheidegg from where the Jungfraubahn ascends inside the Eiger to the Jungfraujoch.

Hi Achim,

The reflections in the water are assets to the composition. The point of view takes us toward the mountains in the background. The reflection of the light on the snow brings out the colors. The diagonal line of the road is a complement to the composition. Have a nice day.

A beautiful Alpine landscape very well caught in your capture, with good light and a few splendid colors, especially the color turquoise of the lake, and a great contrast between the green tones of the meadows, the sky with clouds, the mountains and the snow.
The North face of the Eiger is outlined in the center of the image, is impressive.

Hi, Achim. The small lake with its emerald water is a first rate foreground which reflects the tops in the distance. You had the good idea to use the fence to lead us towards this point of interest. The mountains in the background are very impressive and still quite snowy in June. This provides a very good contrast with the green foreground. A very ice alpine scenery.

Bonjour Achim,
le Suisse est absolument fabuleuse, j'ai eu l'occasion de m'y rendre а 4 reprises dйjа et chaque fois je fus sйduit. Une sйduction qui se prolonge au travers de photos telles que celle-ci, fabuleuse et hautes en couleurs et lumiиres.
Un POV et un cadrage qui crйent la profondeur et incluent beaucoup de points d'intйrкt.

What an amazing landscape, love the snow cap Jungfraujoch, This take me back to 9 years ago when I was there and didn't have a good camera. Great compositon with both the road and fence leading our vision into the village, and the stunning mountian. Love the way the clouds seem to be moving and so 3-D like. Great work, my complements. I have never been to Switzerland, but this is the impression that I have in my mind: tall snowy mountains, green hills and charming chalets. (I had a musical box chalet just like those in your photograph!)

Good sharp focus with interesting layers of colour in your nicely formed composition.

I know the area fairly well and personally I always preferred it as a Summer place. Your composition is a rather unorthodox for these alpine giants in the background. Wonderful detail of the dark green pool with its reflection in it.

Great contrast in the green colours in front of this giants of the Alps.
The pond looks artificial but the green colour is the same of some mountain lakes.
