Hello Brian - The textures on the gnarled old tree stump and orange rocks are, for me, the high point of this shot. The distant view of the canyon and clouds is lovely but it is the FG that really 'speaks' to me. So tactile and immediate I love it.
Warm regards

Hello Brian
I never get tired of Grand Canyon images. Nice textural and tonal details in the gnarled old tree stump and its drab grey colour contrasts well against the colourful red and blue bg. Good sharpness and excellent clarity. The trees either side add balance and depth and frame the bg superbly. Tfs!

Hello Brian,
The view would have made a fine picture on its own - especially because of that beautiful cloud - but the combination with this pieces of art made by nature and the framing by the pine trees it makes a wonderful photo.

Hello Brian,
Another of your wonderful shots from Arizona and the Grand Canyon - you must have hundreds of these wonderful pictures stashed away but I reckon you still yearn to return to capture some more - and I can fully understand why!
That might be just an old gnarled dead tree stump but its effect in this image is truly magical as, together with the red earth and rocks where its decaying roots lie, it produces a fine foreground feature and so adds incredible depth to the whole composition. The contrast in colours and tones between the foreground and the distant view is amazing.
A well composed and thought out photograph with fabulous light and colours, perfect exposure and, as always, exquisite details and clarity.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Brian,
Yesterday I read an article about tips concerning composition in photography and one of the suggestions was to place a strong element in the foreground. Looking at your picture I must say it works very well! ;)
I love the colours and in general the view.
Best regards,
Karolina

Hi Brian
As ever, your light skills are brilliant, and I am in awe at how you managed to retain such color and detail in every layer of this beautifully layered shot. As much as the backdrop is breath taking, you have chosen a reply great foreground subject which balances that out so well that my eye doesn not know where to look first! Beautiful flaming with the vegetation too.
Cheers

Le premier plan accentue encore l'effet 3D de cette splendide photo de cet endroit majestueux. Belles couleurs, jolie composition et très bonne profondeur de champ.

Howdy Gappy,
The "molar mechanic,"....ahaha, I'm still getting a good laugh at that one! I too fear the dentist, something fierce in fact, and will do just about anything necessary to avoid hammer time. Now, the Grand Canyon on the other hand is something I look forward to...and every picture you post drives that desire to head back up North for another round. It's a shame I haven't been back since Serghei's visit!?
Such an inspiring view and outstanding composition to utilize the old stump as an anchor in this shot. Someone should carve out a seat in this old thing and charge admission to sit and soak up the grandeur and glory this place has to offer.
I don't know how you come up with these rich colors, but you have quite a knack for bringing the canyon alive with color and texture...I mean, three's not even a squirrel in sight, but it looks and feels animated. Speaking of, I'm sure there's a coyote around here somewhere trying to chase down a road runner. *meep meep* Another superb result mate! Enjoy the rest of the day.
Cheers from arid Az.,
Wile E.

Hello Brian
Great compositional technique making use of the stump as a lead and the trees at the side to frame the panorama. The FG - BG contrast creates the depth and hey presto - a compositionally excellent shot. Well done.

Very good viewing angle and excellent depth of field. It is good for someone who takes a picture, to include in the frame so many elements as he can. You have done it in the best way!
Stunning view, my friend!!
