Photographer's Note

Beyond the Arctic Circle, near to the Dempster Highway which one sees in the foreground, at the confluence of Arctic Red River and the Mackenzie river (frozen at this time...) a sight on the church of one of the rare Indian communities Gwich'in of this area : Tsiigehtchic.
Approximately 200 inhabitants, their ancestors were mainly fishermen and now the population works for the maintenance of the road and for the ferry which makes it possible to cross the river (in winter, not ferry of course ! One drive on a iceroad, it is much simpler)
Catholic church than one sees was built by missionaries in 1868.
