Live on purple, a photo from Milan, Lombardia

Photographer's Note

As most people know, purple flowers are a favorite of butterflies, and here we have an example. Also from the park of my village, one of the most beautiful butterflies with the underside of the wings among the species that I can observe in my area. It is a Melitaea didyma, very common but always beautiful to look at.

Come in molti sanno, i fiori viola sono i preferiti dalle farfalle, e qui abbiamo un esempio. Sempre dal parco del mio villaggio, una delle farfalle con il lato inferiore delle ali piщ bello tra le specie che posso osservare nella mia zona. Si tratta di una Melitaea didyma, molto comune ma sempre bella da vedere.

Hello Luciano,
It's butterfly season, maybe the best time of the year for you and Silvio. This one is quite lovely, especially the combination of yellowish/beige insect and purple flower, with the usual mainly green and sufficiently blurred background. The good light has enhanced the colours and you put the sharpness in the right place.

Hello Luciano, the sharp quality of this shot is excellent. The clover flower is so 3 dimensional.
I love the blurred background, it doesn’t distract us from the pretty butterfly as it feeds on the flower.

Hi Luciano,
Spring seems to be the best time for taking photos of butterflies in Italy. Perfectly sharp shot of this beautiful butterfly digging deep into that ping flower. Green straws seem to make a kind of frame to this scene. Very nice!

Hello Luciano,
I thought butterflies chose the flowers based on the scent they give off.
But the colour is also important. Maybe that's why there are no black flowers.

Spring time is best for butterflies pictures (though we do not have many in my area0.
Wonderful macro yet again, green background in fine contrast to the pink flower and the orange/brown butterfly.
