another view on the pleasant village of Ascona on the shores of lago maggiore in the italian speaking part of Switzerland.
At lago maggiore is where the high alps of the north meet with the mediterranian climate of the south, well documented here with the snowy peaks of the alps and the rather italian looking architecture and vegetation of Ascona

Hello Daniel,

I love this picture!

Your composition is very striking, a strong diagonal really dividing the picture into two separate triangles - the distant view of snow-capped mountains at top and left, and an amazingly detailed and colourful view of part of the town of Ascona at bottom and right. And we see just a tiny glimpse of the water of Lago Maggiore at the very bottom left corner.

Gorgeous colours, amazing depth of field, lovely light and exquisite details and sharpness.

And an interesting note too!

As John said above, this is a really nicely composed shot with a great diagonal. Subject matter, light, contrast, color all revolve around that line so tht it really is two shots in one. Excellent detail all the way back to the peak, and this view of the town is great, revealing its precarious architecture in strong light. And the juxtaposition of the palm trees with the snow capped mountains is pretty incredible! I would not have guessed Switzerland had any palm trees at all, yet here they are...

your photo has very well thought through comnposition - I especially like how the angle of the mountain's slope matches the angle of the town. Very nice colors and sharpness on the foreground, interesting background. The snow covered peaks contrast nicely with the greyness of the rocks. Very well captured!

Switzerland is such a beautiful country and this view demonstrates that it has it all: Mediterranean climate with lovely architecture as well as the spectacular nature. This is a fantastic composition with the strong diagonal which separates two so different world. Very well seen and captured.

This a a wonderfully compressed viewpoint of this village, it really enhances the the scale of the mountains. Amazing contrast composed here with the alpine region virtually juxtaposed with the Mediterranean landscape. So uniquely different and yet existing side-by-side. A very conscious and well executed photo. Nicely done!

Hi Daniel,
This location is really built on a steep slope. A place where Mediterranean climate, and snowy peaks come very close. Actually surprisingly close considering how warm you mentioned it was in the earlier picture.

A great shot of the lovely city of Ascona! I love especially the way palmtrees distinguish theselves agains the mountains background. It looks as if you have made a collage of two distinct photos! But for all those who have visited the region it's clear that it is just an illusion!

Very nice and well composed picture of this beautiful village. You framed the image well using the diagonal line of the mountain slope to split the image into two distinct parts and give a sense of depth. The beautiful warm light brings out a lovely contrast between the mountainous backdrop and the lovely villas. Magnificent view towards the snowy peaks in the background. Very well done.
