Photographer's Note
Wildebeests of Masai Mara
The name wildebeest finds its origin in the Dutch and Afrikaans words wild beest which means "wild animal/beast". Although the name is derived from the Dutch language, the name wildebeest doesn't officially exist in the Dutch language. The Dutch name for wildebeest is gnoe (where the Dutch "g" is pronounced [†x]) (as in: Loch).
Afrikaanders (Afrikaans speaking South-Africans) have probably started using the phrase "Wildebeest" for the animal as they did not know any name for the animal when they first encountered it.
'Gnu' is from a Khoikhoi language (which pronounced the [g]), which likely imitated it from the grunt-type noise that a wildebeest makes.

Merhaba Aysegul,
Wow...everyone's romantic image of an African safari captured right here...great detail from the subtle changes in the earthy colours...but the zebras make this one for me...popping up at random intervals to break the pattern of gnus
Cheers

Hi Aysegul,
Wonderful how you composed this one. All those animals on the dry grassland, and with that lonesome tree the overall composition is more then excellent.
Perfect work....like it a lot.

What a funny but nevertheless beautiful image. Even though it's very busy at the first glance, it emits some kind of peacefulness. Personally I think that the strong colours work against the contents of the image. I'll post a workshop with a toned b&w version.

Merhaba Ayşegül,
Muhteşem bir manzara. Kadraj içerisindeki hayvanlar atlama taşları gibi bizi içeri taa derinliklere, tek başına duran ağaca doğru çekmektedir. Harika renk tonlarıyla, anlatımıyla mükemmel bir kompozisyon. Ellerine sağlık.
Selamlar...

Bonjour

Great photo. I think the title really adds to the aesthetics of the photo, really tying in to what you are making the focal point and why you took the photo. Great composition, color and detail.

Hi Aysegul,
Fantastic shot, so many animals in one frame, really great view! I like how warm colors of ground contrast from brighter sky. Tree complete the whole very well.

Hello Aysegul,
It's a wonderful graphical place with very creative perspective.A well managed shot with all these animals in your frame. The lonely and strange of the shape tree, give a different visual in your capture.Well done.

Aysegul,
Great contrast to your other "lonely tree" photos - yet the tree still carries its own minimalist sensibilities in this shot I think; the animals forming little more than part of the pattern of the plains.
Lovely photo, excellent burnt colouring.

Sevgiler.
