Hamer women, a photo from Southern, South

Photographer's Note

This was a strange moment. Hamer women were gathering at the location for a bull-jumping ceremony near Turmi, when these two approached each other and kissed. It was particularly strange as public kissing is very unusual and they were both women and it was a long kiss. Maybe a greeting between relatives?

It's maybe not unique, but at least it's a very unusual and surprising photo. The kiss as such is quite beautiful, and even though you must have been taken aback you managed a very good composition and fine sharpness. I like the contrast between their brown/red tones and the green background.

Hello Stephen, Interesting what was the meaning of this long kiss of two women. Very surprising and rather unusual situation. Wonderful photo, I like the blurred green background contrasting so beautiful with the beautiful brown of the hair and skin of women. this covering of the whole body reminds me of Himba people. Wonderful jewellery.
