Hello Paja,
It looks like the Serbian Orthodox Church is proud of the political history of the country. I would not expect to see depiction of a historical battle in an American church, unless it was a biblical battle. Then again, the defeat of the Turks resulted in Christians being free to propagate their religion, so this battle might have religious overtones, too.
