Hello Vangelis,
We know they are not monster, but regardless, it still can scare some people, especially females. Anyway, really wonderful shot with so many of them together. I can almost feel the slick and slimy texture of the fishes. Do people eat them in Europe? I know people eat them in some many countries in Asia. I have never seen one in the nature like this. Good catch.

Hello again dear Way,
I hope you are well in health and mood. Yes, in Europe eel is not only eaten, but is also considered a delicacy. In some countries (not in Greece though) it is even traditional to eat eel as a festival dish for new year's eve. In the town nearby to where I took this photo, the traditional tavern to eat eel is even called "Emergency Rescue" (the name is an euphemism: supposedly because they know how to roast eel so nicely -but they really are very tasteful when roasted well! I have to agree to that...- that you will eat so many that you will end up needing to go to the hospital). Warm regards Vangelis |
