Default To tyro: which lens

Hello John.
Thank you for the kind words.
In all my photos I prefer the unnoticed snapshot - usually at close range. The photo was taken with a full frame camera and 40mm fixed lens. Telephoto lenses I use on the full frame camera never. Of course, the lady did not see me.
At my small second camera I use now and again to zoom. But again: get close to the people.
But all that has been said is only true for me and my art of photography. Each photographer has his own way.
Best rgd, Wolfgang

Default Candid photography.........

Thank you, Wolfgang, for your quick and very interesting reply!

You must have a wonderful technique to be able to get so close to people unnoticed, especially with a 40mm lens on a full frame camera. Do you sometimes "shoot from the hip" rather than bringing your camera up to eye level every time?

Yes, I agree - every photographer has his or her own methods. I was very interested to meet Claude (CLODO) at a little TE meeting in England a couple of months ago. He is an excellent street photographer (and a delightful man too) but he uses a cropped frame camera with a 18-200mm lens so that he can quickly zoom in - usually from a distance.

Kind Regards,

John.
