I like the strong contrast in this picture, with only three pure colors : black, white, and red. The horizontal composition is nice too. These paper lanterns seem to be floating in a dark empty space. Well done, Kris Jean-Michel

Trиs bel envol (de corbeaux ?), et judicieux usage du noir et blanc. Le contraste entre les formes et les valeurs de gris des deux clochers est est un йlйment marquant de la photo. J'ai l'impression de voir une trиs lйgиre inclinaison vers la droite, mais c'est peut-кtre une illusion d'optique… Bien vu ! Jean-Michel

It's amazing how the clouds line up along the beach. This makes a very strong composition. I also like the fact that there is just one well defined detail on the land -- some kind of pond? --that catches the attention. The colors are great and the pic is sharp enough that one can even distinguish the white line of waves breaking on the sand. Great shot Kenan! Jean-Michel

Very interesting POV. It looks like a real spider web! Also a superb vertical mirror effect. The subtle change in the color of the sky from black to deep purple adds more depth to the pic. Good shot. Jean-Michel

This shot is perhaps not perfect in a technical sense but I like it very much because the composition is strong and meaningful. It provides a powerful combination of the most formal and the most familiar aspects of New Year in the Russian style -- but I guess a similar view could be applied to the same event in many other countries. Dans une note en Franзais, j'aurais йcrit "Cфte d'Azur" :-( A part зa l'endroit est splendide, mais la photo manque peut-кtre d'un centre d'intйrкt : ce n'est pas la villa, qui est а demi cachйe par les arbres, ni l'оlot au premier plan qui ne se dйtache pas totalement de la cфte, ni l'arbre mort relйguй dans le coin en bas а droite… Mais un peu de mer et de ciel bleu en ces jours d'hiver, зa ne se refuse pas ! This is a very interesting picture. I like how you place the focus on the woman without showing her face. This adds some mystery to the scene. I also like the light on the background, making a strong contrast with the shadow of the walls. Well done Salil. Thanks for this moment of peace. Jean-Michel

Very nice composition and DOF. This shot reflects the atmosphere of the place and very well. The mobile phone framed in the angle of the woman's arm makes a nice focus. Perhaps there is a slight tilt to the right (see the table and the glass) that could be easily corrected. Well done Alfonso! Jean-Michel

Je trouve cette photo magnifique, avec la prйsence imposante du rocher au beau milieu du cadre et la minuscule embarcation qui en donne l'йchelle. Au contraste des tailles s'ajoute celui des valeurs, partant du vert sombre et se diluant presque jusqu'au blanc а la bordure infйrieure de l'image. La rйfйrence littйraire est fort judicieusement choisie. Bravo et merci Jean-Michel
