I live in that strange and mysterious land you refer to. The UK has never had ID cards, apart from during the war years, and people from all over the world have always needed passports to enter the UK, just as UK citizens always required to enter EU countries. In that respect nothing has changed, so your claim that this has only been the case since the UK took control back from Brussels is total nonsense. You ask what is the UK's intention - basically to have total control of what and who enters these shores and to be able to trade with whoever we wish without being shackled by the snails pace actions of the EU. Had we been in the EU when Covid hit we would have had to wait many months for vaccine rollout. That's just one example of the benefits. Are there negatives, of course there are but people voted and the decision was made.

It's many years since I visited Warwick Castle - way back before it was turned into a theme park. I like the viewpoint too. It's very close to where I took my own photo across the water to get that reflection. I really like the converging lines and the way they draw the eye in.

My initial thought to myself was would it have been better to take the image from the other side. On consideration I don't think it would as there would be a real risk of highlight/shadow or both, being lost due to the harsh light. In a perfect world the horse's head might have been higher, but I've never tried to give posing instructions to a horse :-)

Great image, packed with detail. The information about the difference between the glacier in 1999, and your image taken 13 years later is interesting but actually nothing new. The museum in Banff has a series of images taken in the late 19th and early 20th century showing how much the glaciers in the area had retreated over that period too. Please note - I'm not trying to deny the current issues, just adding the information that its been going on for over 100 years.

I particularly like the way the sunburst light rays contrasts with the damage and graffiti. When I initially looked at the picture I spotted the bottle in the foreground and thought it should be removed. After seeing the damage and graffiti everywhere else I think it actually adds to the sense of dereliction.
