Photographer's Note

Among the species of the family Cathartidae (to which belongs the condor, shown in the last photo), the black vulture (Coragyps atratus) is the smallest one. In spite of its size, it is the most aggressive, avidly disputing a carcass with the other species.

It is one of the most common birds in any region of Brazil, except in large forested areas with little human presence. It can be found almost anywhere throughout Latin America where there are cities, farms and open areas.
