Photographer's Note

The registries were part of the mechanisms of control of the colonial activities, constituting like fiscal positions in which were charged tributes due to the Crown. All those who traveled the Royal Road must pass for them, carry passports and pay taxes, such as the fifth real and others related to traffic of people, goods and animals. The Landmark of the Paraibuna Register bordering the old link between the coast of Rio de Janeiro and the Minas - called the New Way - had a strategic vision of the space that surrounded it. In century XIX were installed in the vicinity of the house: the wooden bridge with base of stone (bridge President Antnio Carlos); the seedling station of the road Union and Industry; and the section of the Dom Pedro II Railroad, with the Paraibuna station. Later on, the metal dome that serves the railway line, the buildings adjacent to the road stretch and other local urban and railway equipment became part of the surroundings. The house draws attention for its exceptionality, one of the few remnants with these characteristics that are known in the State of Minas Gerais.
