Photographer's Note

The old Newnes Hotel is the only building left from the old town of Newnes. The area around was a shale oil mining town, now wrapped up into Wollemi National Park. The town, for mining, ceased to exist about 100 years ago.
These days it is no longer a hotel but looks after visitor accommodation. If the owner happens to be there you get good coffee and advice on exploring the Newnes industrial ruins.
