Photographer's Note
”A Horse with No Name“ was a famous song by my favorite group in my youth, America. However, this horse has a name: ”Second Daughter.“ It was sculpted by Deborah Butterfield (b. 1949) in 1989.
Deborah Butterfield owns a ranch in Bozeman, Montana. She practices dressage, an equestrian sport in which horse and rider are expected to perform from memory a series of predetermined movements. She has devoted her entire artistic career to the subject of the horse, creating life-sized sculptures of the animals out of various materials. In making Second Daughter, Butterfield used found twigs and branches, which were subsequently cast in bronze. In order to keep the appearance of the original wood, she used a patina that imitates the shifting tones of the branches.
İsimli bir At

Hi Murat,
I like your series of pictures in the snow, and this is a very interesting post with appropriate title and explanation !
From the footsteps in the snow, I see somebody went to stroke the horse with a name, and it bowed its head to receive the sign of friendship :-)
Thanks for sharing and have a good Sunday !
Marie-Louise.

Hello Murat,
Wooden skeleton of a horse mingling beautifully and almost camouflage with the naked trees on the background.

Hello Murat,
the iron skeleton of the horse with no name surrounded from the snows confused a bit with the leafless branches of the bushes on the backdrop.

Hello Murat,
A wonderful sculpture of the horse that really does have a name. The profiled view works well here. Good sharpness and the minimalist color shifts attentions to tones and textures and composition. Tfs!

Hello Murat
Lovely picture of this skinny horse in the snow. It is funny to see how the structure of the sculpture assimilate with the branches of the trees behind.
I’ve seen on several places sculptures related to this one. I think the technique has inspired more artists.
Well done. Have a nice Sunday. Groet Rob

Hi, Murat.
A very modern sculpture, in this case is not the style that I like, but it can be decorative.
Good perspective of the image, very pleasing to the eye.
Very good composition, magnificent presentation.
Good afternoon and happy start of the week.
Warm greetings.
Luis.
