No Drones Allowed
Today a performance with a wink to Craig (Macjake).
The title says enough, no drones allowed at this place, the Witney Museum in New York.
Craig is our drone virtuous with beautiful pictures of impossible positions.
This was not possible here, but luckily it was possible to look down from a higher terrace.
In the context of our discussion about art, here are two examples of applied art.
◙ The terrace with the colourful chairs on the main photo is a design by Mary Heilmann.
◙ The planters at the first workshop are part of an installation by Virginia Overton.
◙ The second workshop is a graphical close up view of the linear patterns in the floor of the terrace.
■ Main picture: ◙ Chairs
■ Workshop 1: ◙ Planters
■ Workshop 2: ◙ Lines

I add the dark frame to the picture to give the posts a screen format of 1920x1080 pixels
The idea is that, if you use the links in the text, you have a full screen image of the picture with the photo in the centre of a dark screen.
This works with the browsers and screens I use, but I’m not sure that everybody will have the same result.

Bonjour Rob,
J'aime beaucoup celle des chaise. Il y a quelque chose de très graphique dans la position des chaises sur ce qui ressemble à une feuille quadrillée. Effectivement, un drone à New York est impensable.

Hello Rob
A very interesting take on no drones. I like the artistic sense here with this capture. Whether you used a drone or really a terrace, no matter. the final result is what matters the most. You have the understanding with this capture. nice

Hi Rob,
The presnec of the persons is animating the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the chairs. The light isd bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Rob,
My first query is can the colourful chairs be moved?
If so, then her design is very fluid.
Because of the squares on the tiled floor, there will be some people who would like to fit the chairs neatly into the squares, to create a very much more regular pattern.
There does seem to be a trend towards interactive art which, I suppose, happens here anyway as people occupy different seats, adding new colours all the time.
I like this 'drone type' viewpoint.
It allows us to see the features in a whole new way!
Have a lovely w/e,
Bev :-)
My husband has just bought a drone. It is an expensive item and until the winds drop a little and we have had much instructional time, it won't be heading into the sky!

Hello Rob,
I first wondered if those chairs had been put in these positions more or less at random, but reading the note and seeing the workshops I am sure everything was meticulously arranged. So credit should mainly go to the artists making these installations, secondly to you for realizing the potential of photos from the right angle, and for cropping the pictures to promote and enhance the ideas of the artists. Clarity and sharpness are also parts of your contribution to this excellent set of photos.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hallo Rob,

Hello Rob,
Splendid graphical composition captured from the ideal point of view. The coloured chairs are nicely distributed across the frame. The regimented square tiling presents a graph paper like background enhancing the graphical experience. Perfectly exposed with superb colours and clarity. I like this one very much even though I don't have any smilies left today.

Hello Rob,
Nice pattern of the colorful cubic chairs in the museum, and in contrats a checkered floor the fits well to the scene from a high point down. Found a good point on the premises.
wish you a nice holiday weekend,
Ike

Hello Rob, an excellent study looking down from quite a height, so that the seats and the people are fairly small.
Part of me wants to straighten the seats so that they sit neatly in a square! And yet,
what I really like is the rather haphazard placing of the seats, which reminds me of a work of art.
Thanks for the other accompanying shots.
Regards Jean.

Hi Rob,one of your best post,no doubts. This time the artist isn't a protagonist of an exhibition, but is the man with the camera. 3 fantastic composition from above, different and original, amd made in great quality, very well done! Happy Easter and thanks,Luciano

Hi Rob
Colours and shapes; must be one of the cleanest and tidiest seating zone. Lovely the way you see abstracts in real life situations. Nice shot with human touch, Congrats.

Good play with the different squares, the colored ones are particularly eye catching, with or without someone seated on them.

Hello Rob
A superb downward pov with nice repetition of the square chairs and their bright and vibrant colours. The composition reminds me of a chessboard or game of checkers. Tfs!

Dag Rob,
Hoe men een drone kan imiteren, door hoog genoeg te staan voor de foto.
Hier in België zijn de wetgeving omtrent drones nog niet zo duidelijk maar bij gebruik bent men altijd in fout.
U foto is well mooi genomen, zeker uw WS 1 vind ik heel mooi.
Nog een prettige paasdag, bedankt.

When I saw the photo and the title I immediately thought of Craig, even before I read your note. :-)
But maybe the title should be "no drones needed". Very lucky to be able to shoot from this angle. The position of the chairs and people and the colour combination is just perfect. I'm going to add it to my favs.
Have a nice week.

Hello, Rob!
The colorful chairs scattered around the photo make the scene very interesting and attractive, it really looks like a photo taken with a drone. The patterns on the floor also look very nice here! Wonderful job!

Hello Rob,
Great POV! The specks of color really pop out against the gray floor, and I like the graphic quality. There are lots of squares, and the chairs almost look like giant pieces on a game board. Very nice. :-)

Hi Rob
sorry, I only noticed this photo and title now! Thanks for the plug hahaha
Just goes to show you can't see everything, I've been to NYC twice, and I never went to this museum...now I wish i DID go.
striking shot, even without a drone haha
the view is A+++, and having the colours and space inbetween the chairs is such an added bonus. one of your best posts
cheers
