The Carnauba (Copernicia prunifera), also called carnauba, is a tree of the family Arecaceae endemic in the semiarid region of northeastern Brazil. It is the tree-symbol of the state of Piaui, known as "tree of life" because it offers a multitude of uses to man: the roots are used medicinally as efficient diuretic; fruits are a rich nutrient for animal feed, the trunk is quality wood for construction, the straw used in the production craft, fertilization and soil extraction of wax (carnauba wax), a valuable ingredient in the composition of various industrial products such as cosmetics, medicine capsules, electronics, food products , polishing waxes and coatings.
